John Leiber
John S. Leiber is an American lawyer and politician from the state of Wisconsin. A Republican, he is the 37th state treasurer of Wisconsin, having been elected in the 2022 election. Early life and career Leiber graduated from Prairie High School in Racine, Wisconsin. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from University of Wisconsin–Parkside and worked for several years as a teacher in the Racine Unified School District. In 2009, Leiber became president of the parks and recreation commission in the neighboring village of Caledonia, Wisconsin, and was then employed as a legislative aide in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2013 through 2016. During these years, he was active in the Republican Party of Racine County, and worked on behalf of the Caledonia school secession movement—that unsuccessful movement sought to separate Caledonia's schools from the Racine Unified School District. The State Treasurer of Wisconsin is a constitutional officer in the executive branch of the government of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Thirty-six individuals have held the office of State Treasurer since statehood. The incumbent is Sarah Godlewski, a Democrat. Election and term of office The State Treasurer is elected on Election Day in November, and takes office on the first Monday of the next January. There is no limit to the number of terms a State Treasurer may hold. From 1848 to 1968, the State Treasurer was elected to a two-year term in the November general election. Since 1970, following ratification of a constitutional amendment in April 1967, the State Treasurer has been elected to a four-year term. Wisconsin Elections Commission
The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency of the State of Wisconsin established to administer and enforce election laws in the state. The Wisconsin Elections Commission was established by a 2015 act of the Wisconsin Legislature which also established the Wisconsin Ethics Commission to administer campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws. The two commissions began operation on June 30, 2016, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB), which was abolished. The Government Accountability Board had been established in 2008 to replace the Wisconsin Elections Board and Wisconsin Ethics Board. The ''Racine Journal Times'' (since 1972 officially styled ''The Journal Times'') is an American daily newspaper published in Racine, Wisconsin. The paper serves the entire Racine County area. History The ''Journal Times'' traces its roots to the 1852 foundation of the ''Racine Weekly Journal'', which became a daily in 1856. Robert Otto Wittke Jr. (born September 23, 1957) is an accountant and Republican politician. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for the 62nd district, representing the northern half of Racine County.
