John Lanigan (hurler)
John Lanigan (17 June 1912 - October 1988) was an Irish hurling, hurler. His National Hurling League, league and All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, championship career with the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary senior team lasted five seasons from 1936 to 1940. Born in Rossmore, County Tipperary, Rossmore, County Tipperary, Lanigan enjoyed his first hurling successes with Thurles CBS. Here he won a Dr. Harty Cup, Harty Cup medal. Lanigan first appeared for the Thurles Sarsfields GAA, Thurles Sarsfields club at juvenile and underage levels. He eventually joined the club's senior team winning four Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, county championship medals. Lanigan made his debut on the inter-county scene when he was selected for the Tipperary minor team in 1929. He enjoyed two championship seasons with the minor team, culminating with the winning of an All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medal in 1930. Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred in the town of Thurles at Semple Stadium. The club was founded in 1881 and is the most honoured club in the history of the county championship with 36 County Titles. Their Underage Section is called ''Dúrlas Og'' and as they go past Minor they become Thurles Sarrsfield History On 19 October 2009, Sarsfields captured their 30th Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, defeating neighbours Drom ’n Inch at Semple Stadium by 0-14 to 0-5. They went on to play Newtownshandrum in the Munster hurling championship quarter-final on 1 November 2009, losing by 1-15 to 0-19 points.
