John Lanigan (historian)
John Lanigan (1758 – 7 July 1828) was an Irish Church historian. Born in County Tipperary, he studied at the Irish College in Rome. He was a professor at the University of Pavia, where he earned a Doctor of Divinity degree. When Napoleon's army took the city, he lost most of his possessions, and returned to Ireland destitute. Lanigan found difficulty obtaining a clerical appointment due to suspicions of having Jansenist sympathies. He became sub-librarian at the Royal Dublin Society and was involved in the literary life of the city. Doctor Lanigan (as he is frequently cited) is most known for his massive and detailed work ''The Ecclesiastical History of Ireland,'' published in four volumes. John Lanigan (born 1943 in Ogallala, Nebraska) is a radio and TV broadcaster primarily known for his work in Cleveland, Ohio, including as the longtime morning host at WMJI in Cleveland from 1985 to 2014. Biography Early career Lanigan was born in Ogallala, Nebraska, in 1943. While in high school, he was a DJ at his high school's radio station. Throughout the 1960s, Lanigan bounced between jobs in Denver's KHOW and Colorado Springs, Colorado, at one point working in both cities simultaneously: Colorado Springs during the day, and Denver at night. While at KHOW, Lanigan also served as the station's program director. Additionally, Lanigan worked in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and at KRLD in Dallas, the latter in afternoon drive. John Lanigan (politician)
John Lanigan (1803 – 1868) was an Irish Liberal politician. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Cashel at the 1859 general election but was defeated at the next general election, in 1865. Lanigan married Mary Ann O'Keeffe (Charles O'Keeffe and Letitia (Yelverton) O'Keeffe) they had two sons Charles O'Keeffe Lanigan and Stephen Charles William O'Keeffe Lanigan. He died on the 25th of August 1868 in Templemore, County Tipperary, and is buried in Glasnevin, Dublin. John Lanigan (hurler)
John Lanigan (17 June 1912 - October 1988) was an Irish hurling, hurler. His National Hurling League, league and All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, championship career with the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary senior team lasted five seasons from 1936 to 1940. Born in Rossmore, County Tipperary, Rossmore, County Tipperary, Lanigan enjoyed his first hurling successes with Thurles CBS. Here he won a Dr. Harty Cup, Harty Cup medal. Lanigan first appeared for the Thurles Sarsfields GAA, Thurles Sarsfields club at juvenile and underage levels. He eventually joined the club's senior team winning four Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, county championship medals. Lanigan made his debut on the inter-county scene when he was selected for the Tipperary minor team in 1929. John Lanigan (7 January 1921 – 1 August 1996) was an operatic tenor. Born in Australia, he studied singing in Italy and made a 30-year career at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, London from 1951 to 1981. He sang more than 80 roles for the Covent Garden company. In his early years he played leading lyric tenor roles, and later became known for his performances in character parts.
