John Keating (Australian Politician)
John Henry Keating (28 June 1872 – 31 October 1940) was an Australian politician who served as a Senator for Tasmania from 1901 to 1923. He held ministerial office in Alfred Deakin's second government, serving as Vice-President of the Executive Council (1906–1907) and Minister for Home Affairs (1907–1908). Early life Keating was born in Hobart and educated at Officer College, Hobart, Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview, Sydney and the University of Tasmania where he received a Bachelor of Laws in 1896. He established a legal practice in Launceston and became a campaigner for federation and secretary of the Northern Tasmanian Federation League. He married Sarah Alice "Lallie" Monks in January 1906. John Keating (Irish Politician)
John Keating (2 August 1869 – 8 July 1956) was an Irish politician and farmer. Keating was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a National League Party Teachta Dála (TD) for the Wexford constituency at the June 1927 general election. He lost his seat at the September 1927 general election but was elected as a Cumann na nGaedheal TD at the 1932 general election and was re-elected at the 1933 general election. He was elected as a Fine Gael TD at the 1937 and 1938 general elections. He lost his seat at the 1943 general election but was re-elected at the 1944 general election. He stood as an Independent candidate at the 1948 general election but did not retain his seat. John Keating, or Keatinge (c. 1630–1691) was an Irish judge of the late seventeenth century, who held office as Chief Justice of the Irish Common Pleas. He had an impressive reputation for integrity, impartiality and benevolence. Due to his loyalty to King James II of England, he was dismissed from his office as Chief Justice after the Revolution of 1688. Later, faced with the threat of impeachment, he committed suicide. John Keating was born in Ireland in 1760, and raised in France. He joined the French Army, resigning in face of the Haitian and French revolutions to settle in Philadelphia. He spent the rest of his long life as a land agent and manager for the settlement of inland Pennsylvania, known for competence, honesty, and care for the settlers. John Keating is a Bally Sports Detroit host and reporter. He was born in Madison Heights, Michigan. He attended Grand Valley State University. In 2019, Keating won his 16th local Emmy from the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Radio career Keating began his broadcasting career while a student at Grand Valley State University. Keating climbed through the ranks of WSRX, Grand Valley's own student run radio station, from broadcaster up to Station Manager. John D'Arcy Keating
John D'Arcy Keating (born December 12, 1952) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round (104th overall) of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. Hockey career Keating played junior hockey with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, and attended the University of Notre Dame where he played NCAA Division I hockey with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Keating began his professional career in the International Hockey League (IHL) with the Fort Wayne Komets, playing 28 regular-season games and 5 playoff contests during the 1972–73 season. He went on to play six seasons and 332 games in the IHL, scoring 101 goals and 150 assists for 251 points, while earning 235 penalty minutes. John Richard Keating (July 20, 1934 – March 22, 1998) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Arlington in Virginia from 1983 until his death. Biography Early life John Keating was born on July 20, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Robert and Gertrude Keating. He was educated at Queen of All Saints School, Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago, and St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois. John Keating (10 September 1927 – 28 May 2015) was a Scottish musician, songwriter, arranger and trombonist. Biography Keating was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. After studying piano and trombone, he taught himself how to arrange and compose in his teens. From 1952, he worked with British big band leader Ted Heath as a trombonist, but within two years Heath asked him to become his primary arranger. In the early 1960s, he and songwriter Johnny Worth (writing as Les Vandyke) masterminded the career of a minor British pop star, Eden Kane. The team wrote and produced a string of British top 10 hits for Kane in 1961–63. In addition he wrote, produced or arranged hits by Adam Faith, Petula Clark, Anthony Newley, Shani Wallis, Caterina Valente, and Sammy Davis Jr. among others. Seán Keating
Seán Keating (born John Keating, 28 September 1889 – 21 December 1977) was an Irish romantic-realist painter who painted some iconic images of the Irish War of Independence and of the early industrialization of Ireland. He spent two weeks or so each year during the late summer on the Aran Islands and his many portraits of island people depicted them as rugged heroic figures. However, he ceased to visit the Aran Islands in 1965.
