John Kaye (screenwriter)
John Kaye (born August 31, 1941) is an American screenwriter, novelist and playwright. His feature credits as a screenwriter include ''American Hot Wax'', ''Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins'' and ''Where the Buffalo Roam''. He also directed the feature film '' Forever Lulu'', starring Melanie Griffith and Patrick Swayze. His novels Stars Screaming (1997) and The Dead Circus (2002) were published by the Atlantic Monthly/Grove Press. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley, Kaye was producer and writer of The Lohman and Barkley Show, a late-nite live, 90 minute, satirical show that ran for a year on KNBC, the NBC affiliate in Los Angeles in 1971. A precursor to Saturday Night Live, Kaye gave Barry Levinson, Craig T. Nelson, John Amos, and McLean Stevenson their first jobs in the entertainment business. John Kaye (politician)
John Kaye (23 October 1955–2 May 2016) was an Australian politician. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council at the 2007 state election and represented the Greens. He was a vocal critic of electricity industry privatisation and a strong advocate for renewable energy and energy efficiency. He believed in life-long, high quality, and free public education and was a determined spokesperson for public schools as well as Colleges of Technical and Further Education (TAFE). Early career After gaining a Bachelor of Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Science at the University of Melbourne, Kaye worked as an engineer for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria. John Kaye (born 3 March 1940) is an English former footballer and manager. Career Kaye joined West Bromwich Albion from Scunthorpe United in May 1963 for £44,750, a club record for Albion at the time. He made his debut for the Baggies against Leicester City in August 1963. Kaye played for Albion between 1963 until 1971 during which time he won the FA Cup and the Football League Cup (also finishing runner-up in this competition twice) He scored for Albion in the second leg of their 1966 League Cup Final triumph over West Ham. John Kaye (27 December 1783, Hammersmith – 18 February 1853, Riseholme, Lincolnshire) was an English churchman. Early life and education He was born the only son of Abraham Kaye in Hammersmith, London and educated at the school of Sir Charles Burney in Hammersmith and then Greenwich. He entered Christ's College, Cambridge and graduated Senior wrangler in 1804. He was the 21st Master of Christ's College from 1814 to 1830. Sir John William Kaye (3 June 1814 – 24 July 1876) was a British military historian, civil servant and army officer. His major works on military history include a three-volume work on ''The History of the Sepoy War in India''. This work was revised later by George Bruce Malleson and published in six volumes in 1890 as ''Kaye and Malleson's History of the Indian Mutiny''. John Brayshaw Kaye (June 10, 1841 – March 29, 1909) was an English-born American poet, lawyer and politician. Life and works John Brayshaw Kaye was born in Yorkshire, England, June 10, 1841, the fifth child and the fourth son of Abram and Mary (Brayshaw) Kaye was born in a family of fourteen children. Sir John Lyster Kaye, 4th Baronet (1697–1752) of Denby Grange, Kirkheaton, Yorkshire, was a British landowner and Tory politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1734 to 1741. Kaye was baptised at Almondbury, on 4 September 1697, the eldest son of George Kaye of Denby Grange, Kirkheaton, Yorkshire, and his wife Dorothy Savile, daughter of Robert Savile of Bryan Royd, near Elland, Yorkshire. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford on 24 May 1715, aged 18. He married Ellen Wilkinson, daughter of John Wilkinson of Greenhead, near Huddersfield. Jonathan Andrew Kaye (born August 2, 1970) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour. Biography Kaye was born in Denver, Colorado, and is Jewish. He attended Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was a star in golf, graduating in 1988. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1993 and turned pro that same year. Jonathan Kaye (born 1942) studied linguistics at Columbia University under Uriel Weinreich and Robert Austelitz, earning his Ph.D. in 1970. He wrote his thesis on Desano, a South American language he studied through a year of field work in the Amazon rainforest, Amazon. In 1967 he took up his first teaching position at the University of Toronto. While there he focused his studies on the Ottawa language, an Algonquian language spoken in Wikwemikong, Manitoulin Island, Ontario. In 1974 he spent his sabbatical leave as a visiting professor at McGill University, and in 1975 he accepted a position at the Université du Québec à Montréal. At UQAM he continued his studies on Ottawa and began to focus on the Algonquin language in Lac Simon, Québec as well.
