John Johnston House (Yanceyville, North Carolina)
John Johnston House is a historic home located near Yanceyville, Caswell County, North Carolina. It was built about 1825, and is a two-story, three bay by two bay, hall-and-parlor plan frame dwelling with Federal style architectural details. A one-story rear ell was added in 1990. It was moved 150 yards to its present location about 1921. Yanceyville, North Carolina
Yanceyville is a town in and the county seat of Caswell County, North Carolina, United States. Located in the Piedmont Triad region of the state, the town had a population of 1,937 at the 2020 census. The settlement was founded in 1792 and was later named Yanceyville in honor of U.S. Congressman Bartlett Yancey, Jr., when chartered as an incorporated town in 1833. There are three public schools in Yanceyville as well as a satellite campus for Piedmont Community College. Maud F. Gatewood Municipal Park and Caswell Community Arboretum are popular recreational areas. Yanceyville Municipal Airport serves general aviation aircraft. Caswell County is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is located in the Piedmont Triad region of the state. At the 2020 census, the population was 22,736. Its county seat is Yanceyville. Partially bordering the state of Virginia, the county was formed from Orange County in 1777 and named for Richard Caswell, the first governor of North Carolina.
