Jameson ( or ) is a blended Irish whiskey produced by the Irish Distillers subsidiary of Pernod Ricard. Originally one of the six main Dublin Whiskeys at the Jameson Distillery Bow St., Jameson is now distilled at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork. John Jameson (March 6, 1802 – January 24, 1857) was an American farmer, lawyer, and politician from Fulton, Missouri. He represented Missouri in the US House of Representatives. Early life Jameson was born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky in Montgomery County, Kentucky on March 6, 1802. His great uncle was Col. John Jameson and he was a second cousin (twice removed) to George Washington. He attended the common schools, moved to Callaway County, Missouri in 1825, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1826 and commenced practice in Fulton, Missouri. He owned slaves. Career He served as a captain in the militia during the Black Hawk War between April and August 1832. He held several local offices including member of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1830 to 1836 and the Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives from 1834 to 1836. John Jameson (1751 – 20 November 1810) was an American soldier, most notable for his service during the American Revolutionary War. He was of Scottish descent and was a resident of Culpeper, Virginia and belonged to a distinguished Jameson Virginian family. Early life John Jameson was a graduate of The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, the second oldest college in the country. Colonel John Jameson’s uncle was Lieutenant Governor David Jameson of Yorktown, Virginia who served from 1780-81 under the Governorship of Thomas Nelson Jr., signor of the United States Declaration of Independence and served as Governor briefly in August 1781 when Nelson took ill. John Alexander Jameson (born 30 June 1941) is a former English cricketer who played in four Test matches and three One Day Internationals for the England cricket team between 1971 and 1975. Jameson played for Warwickshire County Cricket Club from 1960 until 1976. Primarily a hard-hitting top-order batsman, Jameson was also a useful occasional off-spin or medium-pace bowler. A capable slip fielder, he occasionally kept wicket. Major John Gordon Jameson (1878–1955) was Unionist Party MP for Edinburgh West. He was also an advocate, and his father was Andrew Jameson, Lord Ardwall. He unsuccessfully contested the 1912 Edinburgh East by-election, where he had already been selected as the Unionist candidate before the MP died. (At that stage he was nominally a Liberal Unionist, although they merged with the Conservatives only three months later.) He was elected in Edinburgh West as a supporter of David Lloyd George's coalition government in 1918, but he lost his seat to the Liberals in 1922. John Paul Jameson (Jamieson) D.D. ( - 20 March 1700) was a Scottish people, Scottish Roman Catholic priest and antiquarian. Life Jameson was born at Aberdeen, was brought up a Protestant, but became a Roman Catholic convert. He entered the Scots College at Rome on 10 April 1678 and was ordained priest on 9 May 1685. He was nominated to the chair of divinity in the seminary of Cardinal Gregorio Barbarigo, Bishop of Padua; but he shortly returned to Rome, where he lived until 1687. Jameson was sent back on the mission in 1687, when all the Scottish priests abroad were required by special orders from James II and VII to return to their native country. He was stationed first at Huntly, began a new mission at Elgin, Moray, Elgin in 1688, and died at Edinburgh on 25 March 1700 aged 41.
