John James Absalom "Jack" Thomas (17 May 1908 – 27 February 1995) was the Bishop of Swansea and Brecon from 1958 until 1976. Thomas was educated at the University of Aberystwyth and Keble College, Oxford, and was ordained in 1932. He held curacies at Llancaiach and Sketty after which he was the Bishop's Messenger and Examining Chaplain for the Swansea diocese. He was then Warden of Church Hostel, Bangor, and a lecturer at the University College of North Wales until 1944. Following this he was Vicar of Swansea and then Archdeacon of Gower - before being enthroned as Bishop of Swansea and Brecon on 2 February 1958. John William Thomas MSM (30 September 1890 – 1947) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Newcastle United as an inside right. Personal life Either side of the First World War, Thomas worked as a miner, latterly in Sacriston. After the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914, he enlisted as a lance corporal in the Durham Light Infantry. In 1915, Thomas took part in the Second Battle of Ypres. Jack Thomas (born 30 May 1995) is a British parasport swimmer. Thomas competes in the S14 classification for swimmers with intellectual disabilities, mainly freestyle and backstroke, preferring shorter distances. In 2014 he competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow representing Wales and took the bronze medal in the 200m freestyle S14. Personal history Thomas was born in Swansea, Wales in 1995 to Mark and Wendy Thomas. When Jack was two years old he was diagnosed as having learning difficulties. Jack Ward Thomas (September 7, 1934 – May 26, 2016) was the thirteenth chief of the U.S. Forest Service, serving during the Clinton administration years of 1993–1996. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas. His undergraduate education and degree (a BS in wildlife management in 1957) was from Texas A&M University. He worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for ten years. Then while working as a USFS research biologist at Morgantown, West Virginia, he received an MS in wildlife ecology from West Virginia University. John "Jack" Thomas was an All-American lacrosse player at Johns Hopkins University from 1972 to 1974. Lacrosse career Thomas was the Baltimore Sun 1970 Athlete of the Year at Towson High School where he played Varsity Lacrosse for his father, William Thomas Sr.–considered the dean of Maryland high school coaches–as well as playing Varsity Football (Quarterback) and Basketball (Point Guard). With the Blue Jays, Thomas led the team to a national title in 1974. He is ranked fourth all-time in Hopkin's career scoring with 224 points. Thomas earned first-team All America honors all three years while in college, as well as being named the Jack Turnbull Award winner in 1973 and 1974. Jack Thomas (born 25 April 1999) is a Motorcycle speedway, speedway rider from England. Speedway career Thomas rides in the List of United Kingdom speedway league champions, top two tiers of British Speedway. In 2019 he rode for the champion Leicester Lions during the SGB Championship 2019. In 2022, he will ride in the highest league for King's Lynn Stars during the SGB Premiership 2022. He also signed the Oxford Cheetahs for the SGB Championship 2022. The Cheetahs were returning to action after a 14-year absence from British Speedway. His 2022 season came to an early end after he broke both wrists while racing for King's Lynn.
