John Jackson (musician)
John Jackson is a musician and record label executive, known for being the guitarist for the Jayhawks. He plays guitar, mandolin and violin. Before joining the Jayhawks, Jackson had been the senior vice president of A&R at Legacy Recordings where he had co-produced The Jayhawks' “Best Of” album. Jackson spoke to Gary Louris when he was on a solo acoustic tour and asked if he could open for him and began to play with the band. Jackson has described the Jayhawks as "the best American band of the last 30 years." Jackson's connections led to the band getting to work with Ray Davies for their Americana album. Jackson co-produced the band's tenth studio album ''Back Roads and Abandoned Motels'' at Flowers Studio in Minneapolis. John Jackson (engineer)
Sir John Jackson (4 February 1851 – 14 December 1919) was an eminent English engineer who in later life served as Unionist Member of Parliament for Devonport, from 1910 to 1918, retiring from politics when his constituency was merged into another. He was proprietor of the major British engineering firm of John Jackson Ltd and the shipping company Westminster Shipping Co Ltd. John Baptist Jackson
John Baptist Jackson (1701–1780) was a British artist, a woodcut printmaker of the eighteenth century. He lived and worked in Paris and Venice. Jackson was prolific, ambitious and innovative within the medium, and produced both chiaroscuro and polychrome prints, as well as wallpaper. Jackson made prints after oil paintings rather than imitation of ink-and-wash drawings. Jackson's work was remarkable for its subtle overprinting to incorporate a wider range of colours, for which he developed new, oil-based inks. Also notable in some works is his use of heavy embossing to emphasize and highlight areas of his compositions, for which he used a rolling press of his own construction. Sir John Jackson, 1st Baronet (30 December 1763 – 17 May 1820) was a British politician and businessman. Early life John Jackson was born on 30 December 1763 at Kingston, Jamaica. He was the second son of John Jackson, a surgeon, and Hannah Coverley. While little is known of Jackson's early life, he possibly was educated at Eton College from 1778. Jackson married Charlotte Spry, the daughter of Colonel Joseph Goreham, on 13 February 1797. The couple would go on to have four sons and two daughters. Mercantile career At an early point in his adult life Jackson served as a ship's purser. John Alexander Jackson B.A., (1844 – 18 February 1889) was a politician in colonial Tasmania, Attorney-General of Tasmania 1872 to 1873. Jackson was the youngest son of John Alexander Jackson, an architect in Tasmania, was educated at Queen's College, Oxford, and entered as a student at the Middle Temple in November 1864, being called to the bar in June 1868. He subsequently returned to Tasmania, and was admitted to the bar of that colony, practising at Hobart. Jackson was member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly for the Electoral district of Queenborough from 8 September 1871 until resigning in July 1876. John Alexander Jackson (1809 – 25 May 1885) was a public servant, colonial agent in pre-Federation Australia and Treasurer of South Australia. Jackson was the son of John Serocold Jackson, a major in the 72nd Regiment. The family migrated to Sydney, New South Wales in July 1825. J.A. Jackson was employed as a draughtsman in the Surveyor-General's Department on a salary of £100. After apparently visiting England, he arrived in Launceston aboard the ''David Owen'' in June 1831. He owned two large farms, and in 1833, became the editor of John Pascoe Fawkner's ''Launceston Advertiser''. John Holmes Jackson (March 21, 1871 – December 14, 1944) was an American politician who served as the 24th and 26th Mayor of Burlington, Vermont. His initial narrow ten vote victory in 1917 against incumbent Albert S. Drew is the closest mayoral election in Burlington's history, although Clarence H. Beecher's 1927 victory was decreased from 89 votes to 8 votes by a Supreme Court ruling in 1929, and wasn't matched until Bernie Sanders won the 1981 mayoral election by ten votes after a recount.
