John J. Loughlin, Jr.
John J. Loughlin II (born March 3, 1959) is an American politician was a Republican member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, representing the 71st District from 2005 to 2010. During the 2009-2010 sessions he served on the House Committees on Labor and Veterans Affairs, and he also served as minority whip. In June, 2010 he announced that he would not run for another term and that he would be running for U.S. Congress in the First Congressional seat being vacated by Patrick J. Kennedy. He lost in the 2010 General elections to outgoing Providence Mayor David Cicilline. Loughlin currently hosts The John Loughlin Show on local Providence radio station WPRO (AM) WPRO (630 AM) is a commercial radio station in Providence, Rhode Island. David Nicola Cicilline (; born July 15, 1961) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the 36th mayor of Providence from 2003 to 2011, the first openly gay mayor of a U.S. state capital. Cicilline chairs the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial and Administrative Law. In this role, he has supported efforts to modernize antitrust law. WPRO (630 AM) is a commercial radio station in Providence, Rhode Island. It is owned by Cumulus Media, broadcasting a talk radio format, simulcast on co-owned 99.7 WEAN-FM. The studios for WPRO and other Cumulus Providence stations are on Wampanoag Road in East Providence, at the Salty Brine Broadcast Center, named after WPRO's longtime morning host. WPRO is powered at 5,000 watts, non-directional by day. But to protect other stations on 630 AM from interference, at night it uses a directional antenna with a two-tower array.
