John J. Kavelaars
J-John Kavelaars, better known as JJ Kavelaars (born 1966), is a Canadian astronomer who was part of a team that discovered several moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. He is also a discoverer of minor planets and an investigator on the extended ''New Horizons'' mission, having aided in the discovery of 486958 Arrokoth. Biography Kavelaars is a graduate of the Glencoe District High School in Glencoe, Ontario, the University of Guelph, and Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. He is currently an astronomer at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory in Victoria, B.C. In the course of his work, he has been responsible for the discovery of eleven satellites (moons) of Saturn, eight of Uranus, and four of Neptune, and a hundred or so minor planets. The NRC Herzberg Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Centre (NRC Herzberg, HAA) is the leading Canadian centre for astronomy and astrophysics. It is based in Victoria, British Columbia. The current Director-General, as of 2021, is Luc Simard. Monique Kavelaars
Monique Kavelaars (born March 20, 1971) is a Canadian fencer. She was part of Team Canada's women's epée team who finished fourth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. She trains and lives in Toronto, Ontario. She belongs to the Toronto Fencing Club. Kavelaars was Miss Teen Canada in 1989. She has a twin sister named Ingrid Kavelaars who was runner-up in 1987 at that same pageant, but won Miss Teen London Ontario in 1987 and is currently an actress. They also have an older sister named Annette Kavelaars who won the Miss London Ontario pageant in 1984 and competed in the Miss Canada pageant.
