Sir John Alexander Macdonald (January 10 or 11, 1815 – June 6, 1891) was the first prime minister of Canada, serving from 1867 to 1873 and from 1878 to 1891. The dominant figure of Canadian Confederation, he had a political career that spanned almost half a century. Macdonald was born in Scotland; when he was a boy his family immigrated to Kingston in the Province of Upper Canada (today in eastern Ontario). As a lawyer, he was involved in several high-profile cases and quickly became prominent in Kingston, which elected him in 1844 to the legislature of the Province of Canada. By 1857, he had become premier under the colony's unstable political system. John Galbraith Horn (16 April 1860 – 10 September 1925) also known as J.G. Horn or Galbraith Horn was a Scottish tennis player who competed at the Wimbledon Championships in 1881 and 1882. He won the Scottish Championships three times consecutively from 1881 to 1883. He was active from 1881 to 1892 and won 6 career singles titles. John Lasarus Williams (29 October 1924 – 15 June 2004), known as John L, was a Welsh nationalist activist. Williams was born in Llangoed on Anglesey, but lived most of his life in nearby Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. In his youth, he was a keen footballer, and he also worked as a teacher. His activism started when he campaigned against the refusal of Brewer Spinks, an employer in Blaenau Ffestiniog, to permit his staff to speak Welsh. John Alfred Thomas Horn (6 November 1931 – 26 August 2001) was a British tennis player who won the Wimbledon Boys' singles Championship in 1950. Tennis career Horn reached the Wimbledon Boys' Singles final for two years running. In the 1949 final he lost to Staffan Stockenberg and in 1950 he beat the Egyptian player, Kamel Moubarek in the final. Horn competed on the amateur circuit during the 1950s and won 23 titles. His first title was as an eighteen-year-old, at the Derbyshire championships in Buxton, when he beat George Godsell in the final. His last amateur title was in 1956 at the North of England Hardcourts, beating Michael Hann in the final. Horn turned professional in the late 1950s and in 1967 he won the British Pro Championships held at Eastbourne with a victory over Charles Applewhaite. John Stephen Horn (May 31, 1931 – February 17, 2011) was President of California State University, Long Beach and later a five-term Republican United States Congressman from California from 1993 to 2003. Early life Horn was born on May 31, 1931 in San Juan Bautista, California, Horn served in the United States Army Reserves from 1954 until 1962. Horn earned his bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 1953 and went on to earn a Master of Public Administration from Harvard's Graduate School of Public Administration in 1955. Dr. John D. Horn High School is a secondary school in Mesquite, Texas, United States. The school serves the southern portion of Mesquite and the Mesquite ISD portion of Seagoville. John Horn High School, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Mesquite Independent School District. The school is under the UIL AAAAAA (or 6A) division. The Jaguar is the school mascot, and the school colors are red, black and white. History John Horn High School is the newest high school opened in the Mesquite Independent School District. It is named after the former superintendent Dr. John D. Horn. The school opened in 2000 with only 9th and 10th grade classes. The enrollment in that first school year was approximately 550.
