John Hobbs (ornithologist)
John Nelson Hobbs (1923 – October 31, 1990) was a British- Australian career police officer and amateur ornithologist, best known for his involvement with the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union. Early life Hobbs was born in London, England in 1923. During World War II, he served as a gunner on tankers in the Atlantic Ocean. After the war, he joined the Metropolitan Police Force in London. In 1952, Hobbs emigrated to Australia and joined the NSW Police Force. Career Hobbs served as a New South Wales police officer until 1980, based in a succession of country towns, including Dareton, Finley, Buronga, Katoomba, Kyogle, Nowra, and Narrandera. During this period, he developed an amateur interest in ornithology and made detailed studies of local birdlife, including the article "The birds of south-west New South Wales." John Douglas "Jack" Hobbs (born November 11, 1956) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Minnesota Twins in . He played in the Minor league baseball, minor leagues from 1978 to 1983. Hobbs is also a radio broadcasting industry executive. Jack Hobbs is a graduate of Lynchburg College, where he majored in Political Science / Pre Law. While at Lynchburg, Hobbs was named All-American in 1978 - and subsequently drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 7th round of the 1978 MLB Draft, 1978 amateur draft. Hobbs was Drafted by the Minnesota Twins from the Mariners in December 8, 1980 in the rule 5 draft. Hobbs was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on August 31, 1981, with the Twins. His uniform number was 40. Hobbs later entered the radio broadcasting industry and became Executive Vice President / Chief Marketing Officer of Spanish-language radio broadcaster Univision Radio, a division of Univision Communications Inc.

John Raymond Hobbs MRCS, FRCP, FRCPath, FRCPaed (17 April 1929 – 13 July 2008) was a professor who was at the forefront of the techniques of clinical immunology, protein biochemistry and bone marrow transplantation, specifically in child health. Early life John Hobbs was born in Aldershot. He was the third son of four male children of a soldier's family. His family moved around considerably due to his father's career in the British Army. The family eventually settled in his father's home town of Plymouth in the county of Devon. During the Second World War, John, along with his three brothers Frederick, William and Dennis, were evacuated from blitz-torn Plymouth to Penzance. He left school at 16 and worked as a pathology laboratory assistant and did his National Service in Egypt with the British Army Medical Corps. John Hobbs (missionary)
John Hobbs (22 February 1800 – 24 June 1883) was a New Zealand missionary, artisan and interpreter. Along with James Stack (missionary), James Stack, he co-founded the Māngungu Mission. Personal life John Hobbs was born in Thanet District, Thanet, Kent, England, on 22 February 1800. He was the son of Richard Hobbs, a coachbuilder and Wesleyan preacher. In 1827 he married Jane Broggreff of Kent, and had five daughters and two sons. One of his sons was MP Richard Hobbs (politician), Richard Hobbs. He died in 1883 in Auckland and was buried in Grafton Cemetery. Missionary work In 1816, John Hobbs joined the Wesleyanism, Wesleyan Church. He became a lay preacher, like his father, three years later. John Anthony David Hobbs (born 30 November 1935) is an English former first-class cricketer. Hobbs was born in the Liverpool suburb of Aigburth in November 1935. He later studied at St Peter's College at the University of Oxford. While studying at Oxford, he played first-class cricket for Oxford University, making his debut against Gloucestershire at Oxford in 1956. Lynching Of Cleo Wright
Cleo Wright was a 26-year-old African-American cotton mill worker who was lynching, lynched in Sikeston, Missouri, Sikeston, Missouri during the afternoon of January 25, 1942. Earlier, he was accused of attacking a white woman with a knife and attempting to sexual assault, sexually assault her, and subsequently resisted arrest by stabbing a police officer in the face. After being shot four times and bludgeoned by police, Wright was refused sufficient medical care on the basis of his race.
