Sir John Henderson, 5th Baronet
Sir John Henderson FRSE FSA (8 January 1752 – 12 December 1817), fifth of the Henderson baronets of Fordell Castle, Fordell, Fife, was a Scotland, Scottish nobleman and politician. He trained as a lawyer and was also a competent antiquary. Ancestry The Hendersons were an ancient Scottish family; James Henderson, who served as Lord Advocate of Scotland and died at Flodden Field in 1513, was called the first "Laird of Fordell". Fordell Castle was built in 1567, but it was built on the site of a previous structure. John Henderson (d. 1683) was created a baronet in 1664. The Hendersons' considerable wealth came from coalpits on their estates. Life Sir John Henderson was the son of Robert Henderson (d. 1781), the 4th baronet. John Henderson (defensive Tackle)
John Nathan Henderson (born January 9, 1979), nicknamed Big John or Big Hen, is a former football defensive tackle who played ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Tennessee and was a two-time consensus All-American. The Jacksonville Jaguars chose him in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft, and he was selected for the Pro Bowl twice. Early years Henderson was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Pearl-Cohn Comprehensive High School in Nashville, where he played defensive tackle and tight end for the Pearl Cohn Firebirds high school football team. His teams won back-to-back state championships during his junior and senior years. He was named All-State as a junior when he had 145 tackles and 15 sacks, along with 37 catches for 470 yards and 9 touchdowns. John Henderson (collector)
John Henderson (1797–1878) was an English collector of works of art. Life Born in Adelphi Terrace, London, he was son of John Henderson and Georgiana Jane, only child of George Keate, F.R.S. His father, an amateur artist, was an early patron of Thomas Girtin and J. M. W. Turner, who frequently worked together in his house. His father's income was from rents on 250 poor houses in Whitechapel. In 1805 Henderson's mother and father were receiving £700 in income per annum. Charles Cooper Henderson was his brother. John Henderson the younger went at the age of sixteen as a fellow-commoner to Balliol College, Oxford (B.A. 1817 and M.A. 1820). He read for the bar, but devoted his life to the study of archæology and the collection of works of art. His collections were kept at his house, 3 Montague Street, Bloomsbury. Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell (1605–1650), was a Scottish soldier and mercenary, distinguished as a Cavalier in the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Born 3 November 1605 in Fordell, Fife. He was a distinguished soldier, who had been enslaved by Barbary pirates when commanding on the East African coast. John Henderson (born 4 May 1973) is a Scottish darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Henderson started out in the PDC circuit and played one tournament in Scotland as well as the 2003 UK Open where he lost in the first round, having won his preliminary match. He then qualified for the 2005 BDO World Darts Championship, where he beat Stephen Bunting in the first round before losing in round two to Martin Adams – hitting a record thirteen 180s (for a five-set match) in the 3–2 defeat. Henderson then reached the quarter-finals of the 2005 British Open and the last 32 of the 2005 Winmau World Masters. Henderson reached the final of the 2007 British Open. He beat Tony O'Shea in the quarter finals and Ted Hankey in the semis before losing to Gary Anderson in the final. John Henderson (hurler)
John Henderson (born 14 October 1957) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a corner-back and as a full-back for the Kilkenny and Wicklow senior teams. Born in Johnstown, County Kilkenny, Henderson first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Coláiste Mhuire. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1979 championship. Henderson immediately became a regular member of the team and won three All-Ireland medals, six Leinster medals and four National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Henderson won one Railway Cup medal. John Henderson (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Henderson (born 31 August 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the VFL. Henderson played mostly as a centreman but was originally a half back. He was a premiership player with Collingwood in 1958 and a Victorian interstate representative. Although he never won a best and fairest he was Collingwood's top vote getter in the 1963 Brownlow Medal count, finishing 4th in the league. He was appointed captain of Collingwood for the 1965 season. After playing in the 1966 VFL Grand Final, which they lost to St Kilda by a point, Henderson left Collingwood and joined Yarraville in the VFA as coach. In 1972, Henderson coached local team Donvale United to a premiership in the ESCFA.
