John Harmon (actor)
John Harmon (June 30, 1905 – August 6, 1985) was an American character actor. Harmon was a very prolific bit actor. His career spanned over six decades and almost 300 movie and television roles in a wide variety of genres. Many of his earlier appearances are uncredited. His first major screen credit was in ''I Was Framed'' (1942). His movie career highlights were roles in '' Gallant Bess'', ''The Monster of Piedras Blancas'', '' Live Fast, Die Young'' and ''The Street is my Beat''. The movie in which he made his last screen appearance, ''The Naked Monster'', was released in 2005, twenty years after his death. Harmon's most notable TV roles were in ''Bonanza'', ''The Twilight Zone'', ''Perry Mason'' (as a police fingerprint/ballistics expert), ''Star Trek'' (in the episodes "The City on the Edge of Forever" and " A Piece of The Action"), ''The Rifleman'' (as the hotel clerk Eddie Halstead) and again as a hotel clerk in ''Gunsmoke'' (in S1E15’s “Gold Mine”). ''Dangerous Money'', also known as ''Hot Money'', is a 1946 American film directed by Terry O. Morse, featuring Sidney Toler as Charlie Chan. This is the second and last appearance of Willie Best as Chattanooga Brown, the cousin of Charlie Chan's usual chauffeur, Birmingham Brown (Mantan Moreland). Plot Aboard an ocean liner in the South Pacific, United States Department of the Treasury, US Treasury agent Scott Pearson confidentially asks Charlie Chan for help; two attempts have been made on his life. Chan rescues him from a third, but not the fourth (a knife in the back). ''The Rifleman'' is an American Western television program starring Chuck Connors as rancher Lucas McCain and Johnny Crawford as his son Mark McCain. It was set in the 1880s in the fictional town of North Fork, New Mexico Territory. The show was filmed in black and white, in half-hour episodes. ''The Rifleman'' aired on ABC from September 30, 1958, to April 8, 1963, as a production of Four Star Television. It was one of the first primetime series on US television to show a single parent raising a child. The program was titled to reflect McCain's use of a Winchester Model 1892 rifle, a historical anachronism, as the show was set in the 1880s, and customized to allow repeated firing by cycling its lever action.
