Hugh Morrison (Northern Ireland Politician)
Hugh Smith Morrison (1858–1929) was a Northern Ireland surgeon and politician. Life He was born in County Londonderry, the second son of Hugh Morrison J.P. of Moneydig. He was educated at Coleraine Academical Institution, and studied in the Royal University of Ireland, in Queen's College, Belfast and the College of Surgeons, Dublin. In 1884 he graduated M.D., with a diploma L.R.C.S.''Dr. Hugh Smith Morrison.'' The British Medical Journal, vol. 1, no. 3570, 1929, p. 1063. Going into private medical practice in County Londonderry, Morrison was also involved in Unionist politics there. He lived at Aghadowey. He later became coroner for Coleraine. James Caulfeild, 8th Viscount Charlemont
James Edward Caulfeild, 8th Viscount Charlemont, PC (NI), DL (12 May 1880 – 20 August 1949) was an Irish Peer, elected to the British House of Lords as a Representative Peer and to the Parliament of Northern Ireland as a Senator. He sat in Stormont's upper house from 1925 to 1937 and was Minister for Education for all but the first of his years. Lord Charlemont was born in London to an Irish family, son of the Hon. Marcus Caulfeild, CB, and Gwyn Williams (granddaughter of Sir Robert Williams, Bart.). Educated at Winchester, he married twice; firstly to Evelyn Hull of Park Gate House, Surrey and secondly in 1940 to Hildegarde Slock-Cottell of Belgium. Lord Charlemont lived at Newcastle, County Down. He was the first President and co-founder of The Irish Association for Cultural, Economic and Social Relations. Robert John McKeown (12 May 1869 – 9 April 1925) was a Northern Irish businessman and Ulster Unionist Party politician. Born in Coagh, County Tyrone, he was educated privately and was a director of a linen manufacturing company. From 1914 - 1920 he was chairman of the Irish Power Loom Manufacturers' Association and a member of the Flax Control Board during the First World War. John Clarke MacDermott, Baron MacDermott, , PC (NI) (12 April 1896 – 13 July 1979), was a Northern Irish politician and lawyer who was Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland from 1951 to 1971. Biography Born in 1896, MacDermott was educated at Campbell College, Belfast, and the Queen's University of Belfast. After serving with the Machine Guns Corps in France, Belgium and Germany during the First World War, for which he was awarded the Military Cross and reached the rank of Lieutenant, MacDermott was called to the Bar of Ireland in 1921. Eight years later he was appointed to determine industrial assurance disputes in Northern Ireland, and in 1931 he became a lecturer in Jurisprudence at Queen's University, teaching for four years. In 1936 he was made a King's Counsel, and two years later he was elected to the Northern Ireland House of Commons as an Ulster Unionist member for Queen's University.
