John Hamilton (footballer, Born 1876)
John Hamilton (7 February 1876 – 10 April 1947) was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper and defender for Spanish club FC Barcelona. Although little has been recorded of his life, he was one of the most important figures in the amateur beginnings of football in Catalonia, being noted for his prominent role in promoting football in the city and as the main driving force of Escocès FC, a team made up of Scottish workers from a Sant Andreu factory, which he served as its captain. He was a member of the side that won the first official title in Spanish football, the 1900–01 Copa Macaya with Hispania AC. And in addition to being a player, he was also a referee, overseeing at least one match in the 1900–01 Copa Macaya, tens of Catalan championship games, the 1912 Copa del Rey Final, and being the first president of the Catalan Referees' Association in 1902. Newmilns
Newmilns is a village in the burgh of Newmilns and Greenholm, in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It has a population of 3,057 people (2001 census) and lies on the A71 road, A71, around seven miles east of Kilmarnock and twenty-five miles southwest of Glasgow. It is situated in a valley through which the River Irvine runs and, with the neighbouring towns of Darvel and Galston, East Ayrshire, Galston, forms an area known as the Loudoun, Upper Irvine Valley (locally referred to as The Valley). Joseph Black was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona. The dates of his birth and death are unknown. He and his brother, Alexander, were part of the infamous group of Scottish workers that formed Escocès FC at the start of 1900, and he was also one of the first Scottish players to ever play for Barcelona. Peter Mauchan
Peter Mauchan (1882 – 5 November 1943) was a Scottish footballer who played for Spanish club FC Barcelona at the turn of the century. He was part of the infamous group of Scottish workers that formed Escocès FC. Peter is often confused with his younger brother, David Mauchan, who is often wrongly credited with being the one who played for Escocès FC and FC Barcelona, which is not possible as David was only born in 1895. Early life Peter Mauchan was born in Glasgow in 1882, as the son of William Mauchan, a football referee, and Elizabeth Stewart. Due to his father's textile profession, the family moved to Nottingham between 1884 and 1887. Willie Gold
William Gold was a Scottish footballer. He is best known for being the receiver of the very first red card shown in Spanish football. Gold was also a member of the side that won the very first Spanish club to win an official title, the 1900–01 Copa Macaya with Hispania AC. Biography Willie Gold was born in Newmilns, where he was introduced to football and to his wife, providing for his family as a textile worker employee at lace manufacturers Johnston, Shields & Co. He was eventually promoted to be in charge of a production line, and the experience he gained as such served him to continue working as a manager. Sant Andreu de Palomar is a neighbourhood of Barcelona. It's the oldest part of the Sant Andreu district.
