John Gordon (English Cricketer)
John Harvey Gordon (15 June 1886 – 23 April 1933) was an English cricketer. Gordon was a right-handed batsman whose bowling style is unknown. He played most of his first-class cricket for Oxford University, but also played county cricket for Surrey (at first-class level) and Dorset. Career Born at Reigate, Surrey, Gordon was educated at Winchester College, where he represented the school cricket team, then went on to study at Magdalen College, Oxford. He made his debut in first-class cricket for the University Cricket Club against HDG Leveson-Gower's XI at the University Parks in 1906. Gordon made eight further first-class appearances for the University in that season, scoring 545 runs at an average of 27.35, with a high score of 117, his only first-class century, which came against Surrey. Reigate
Reigate ( ) is a town status in the United Kingdom, town in Surrey, England, around south of central London. The settlement is recorded in Domesday Book in 1086 as ''Cherchefelle'' and first appears with its modern name in the 1190s. The earliest archaeological evidence for human activity is from the Paleolithic and Neolithic, and during the Roman Britain, Roman period, tile making took place to the north east of the modern centre. Merion Cricket Club is a private club in Haverford, Pennsylvania, founded in 1865. Berkshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty National county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Berkshire. Minor Counties Championship
The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. History The competition began in 1895, with the Worcestershire honorary secretary Paul Foley being influential in its creation. Apart from the two World War periods, it has been contested annually ever since. From 2014 to 2019 the tournament was known as the Unicorns Championship. Minor Counties Of English And Welsh Cricket
The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. Trent Bridge Cricket Ground is a cricket ground mostly used for Test, One-Day International and county cricket located in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England, just across the River Trent from the city of Nottingham.
