John Gonzales (Northern Mariana Islands Politician)
John Oliver "Bolis" Pangelinan Gonzales is a Northern Mariana Islander activist and talk show host. Gonzales hosts and produces a local talk show, "John Gonzales Live," which is broadcast to viewers in the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam. Additionally, Gonzales is an advocate of local culture in the Northern Mariana Islands and Micronesia. Gonzales unsuccessfully ran for delegate to the United States House of Representatives in the 2008 Northern Mariana Islands congressional election. Gregorio Sablan
Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (born January 19, 1955) is a Northern Mariana Islander politician and former election commissioner. Elected in 2008, Sablan became the first delegate to the United States House of Representatives from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Sablan is the only Chamorro member of Congress. Sablan has been a member of the Democratic Party throughout his life, but ran as an Independent for the delegate position, as the Democrats had nominated another candidate. He immediately changed his party affiliation in the House to Democratic in 2009, caucuses with Democrats and has remained an official party member during his tenure, but ran as an Independent in all of his reelection campaigns between 2010 and 2020. Pedro Pangelinan Tenorio
Pedro "Teno" Pangelinan Tenorio (April 18, 1934 – May 21, 2018) was a Northern Mariana Islander politician who served as the second and fifth governor of the Northern Mariana Islands from January 11, 1982 to January 8, 1990 and then from January 12, 1998 to January 14, 2002. With 12 years in office, Tenorio was the longest-serving governor in CNMI history. Biography Tenorio was born on Saipan. He graduated from George Washington High School in Guam and attended the University of Guam. He worked as a schoolteacher, a shipping executive, and a supervisor for a Naval technical and training unit. The United States House of Representatives election in the Northern Mariana Islands, 2008 took place on November 4, 2008 and was the Northern Mariana Islands' first election of a delegate to the United States House of Representatives. Since the CNMI traditionally had general elections in odd-numbered years, the November 2008 ballot contained only this office. The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands was the most recent United States jurisdiction to receive congressional representation in the United States House of Representatives (in the form of a non-voting delegate).
