John Gallagher (basketball)
John Gallagher (born May 27, 1977) is the head men's basketball coach at Manhattan College. He previously served as the head coach at the University of Hartford from 2010 until 2022. Career Assistant coach Gallagher started his coaching career working as an assistant at Lafayette College and La Salle University. From 2006 to 2008 Gallagher worked as associate head coach under Dan Leibovitz, helping the Hawks to their first appearance in the America East Championship game in 2008. Hartford lost the game to UMBC 64–50. Gallagher left Hartford in 2008, and spent two years as an assistant coach under Glen Miller with the Penn Quakers. He then briefly worked as an assistant under Steve Donahue at Boston College, a position he held for less than two weeks before being offered the head coaching job at Hartford. A head coach, senior coach or manager is a professional at training and developing athletes. They typically hold a more public profile and are paid more than other coaches. 2008 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2008 America East men's basketball tournament was held from March 7–9 at the Binghamton University Events Center. The final was held March 15 at the Retriever Activities Center. As winners, the UMBC Retrievers win an automatic berth to the 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament for the first time in their 22-year Division I history, with their win over Hartford. UMBC was given the 15th seed in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the first round to Georgetown 66–47. 2017–18 San Diego Toreros Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 San Diego Toreros men's basketball team represented the University of San Diego during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Lamont Smith's third season at San Diego. The Toreros competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. They finished the season 20–14, 9–9 in WCC play to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place. They lost to BYU in the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament. The 2012 America East men's basketball tournament was held from March 1–4 at Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion in West Hartford, Connecticut, with the final held March 10 between the Stony Brook and the Vermont. As per America East tournament regulations, the final took place at Stony Brook University Arena, on the campus of Stony Brook University, the top and highest remaining seed. The Catamounts prevailed, 52-43, and earned an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA tournament.
