John G. Perry
John G. Perry (born 19 January 1947 in Auburn, New York, United States) is a British bass guitarist and singer. He was born in the U.S. to British parents and when he was young, the family moved back to England. Perry's first band of note was Gringo, originally called Utopia, which released an eponymous album in 1971, with future Sailor keyboard player Henry Marsh. A brief stint touring with Spreadeagle followed until Perry was asked to join Caravan, with whom Gringo had done a UK tour. He played with Caravan in 1973-74, with whom he recorded one studio album ''For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night'' (1973), and one live album '' Caravan and the New Symphonia'' (1974). He also appears on various collections of BBC radio recordings released in subsequent years. He left Caravan to concentrate on a new band venture, Quantum Jump, led by keyboardist, vocalist and producer Rupert Hine, and consisting of musicians who had initially assembled to play together on studio sessions. Auburn is a city in Cayuga County, New York, United States. Nutshell (band)
Nutshell were a British Christian musical group, active from the early 1970s up to 1981. Career The band were originally called Jesus Revolution, and the members were Paul Field, Heather Barlow and Pam Thiele (née May). They had changed the name by the time of their first release, ''In Your Eyes'' (1976). The following year they released their second LP, ''Flyaway'' (1977). After the second LP had been released Barlow and Thiele left the group; Field began again with two new female vocalists, Annie McCaig and Mo McCafferty. They released two further LPs, ''Begin Again'' (1978) and ''Believe it or Not'' (1979). After the release of ''Believe it or Not'', the band changed its name to Network 3 and released two singles, "Last Train Home" (1980) and "Dangerous Game" (1981), both of which were produced by Cliff Richard and featured his backing vocals. Wal is a brand of electric bass manufactured by Electric Wood Ltd, first in High Wycombe and later in Fetcham, Surrey, England. It was started in 1974 by guitar builder and electronics expert Ian Waller and luthier Pete Stevens. Since 2009 it has been run by Paul Herman. History Wal basses founder, Ian Waller, was a bass player in 1960s Manchester pop scene. In the late 1960s he moved to London to follow a career as an Electronics Engineer. However, he quickly became involved in the film and then music industry because of both his electronics and woodworking skills. He became known to a number of players on the London session scene for his guitar-making abilities, eventually being commissioned to build basses for them. Sally Oldfield
Sally Patricia Oldfield (born 3 August 1947) is an Irish singer-songwriter. She is the sister of composers Mike and Terry Oldfield. Early life Born in Dublin, Ireland, Oldfield was raised in the Roman Catholic faith of her mother, Maureen. Spending her childhood in Reading, Berkshire, Oldfield studied ballet from the age of four and won numerous competitions in all styles of dance, including ballet, tap and modern. At the age of eleven, she won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dancing, then located in Holland Park, London, and two years later was starred to move on to the Royal Ballet School at White Lodge. However, she gave up ballet two years later, and achieved three A-Levels at Grade A. She studied classical piano to Grade 7.
