John Flood (academic)
John Anthony Flood is a British and Australian sociologist, legal academic, consultant, author and a researcher. He is professor of law and Society at Griffith University and an adjunct professor of law at Queensland University of Technology. Flood is also a research associate at UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies. Flood has published many articles, chapters and reports, and focuses primarily on the legal profession and the globalization of law along with the impact of technological changes on the practice of law. He is the author of ''Barristers' Clerks—The Law’s Middlemen'', ''The Legal Profession in the United States'', ''What Do Lawyers Do? An Ethnography of a Corporate Law Firm'' and ''The Global Lawyer''. John Ernest Flood (21 October 1932 – 13 May 2023) was an English professional footballer who played as a winger. Early life Flood was born in Southampton on 21 October 1932. He was one of eight brothers; his younger brother Raymond was a first-class cricketer. Career Flood was capped as an England schoolboy international. Flood joined Southampton from Pennington St. Marks in 1949 and played in the first team from 1952 to 1958, normally as a winger, making 129 appearances in all competitions and scoring 29 goals. His appearances coincided with Southampton's longest spell in Division 3. He later played 17 games in the Football League for Bournemouth, before joining Headington United, where he made 1 appearance in the Southern Football League in August 1959. John Joe Flood, also referred to as Jonjo Flood or John Flood, was an Irish footballer who played as a forward for Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers, Leeds United and Crystal Palace. As an international, he also played for and captained the Irish Free State yielding an impressive return of 4 goals in 5 games. Flood was also part of the League of Ireland XI setup (1925–1933) which was viewed by fans of the day as an international team when playing against the likes of the Scottish/Welsh/IFA League XI sides.
