John Fitzgibbon (Cork Hurler)
John Fitzgibbon (born 6 May 1967) is an Irish retired hurler who played for Cork Senior Championship club Glen Rovers. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for seven seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a left corner-forward. Fitzgibbon began his hurling career at club level with Glen Rovers. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 18-year-old in 1985, having enjoyed championship successes in the minor and under-21 grades. Fitzgibbon was at right wing-forward on the Glen's 1989 Cork Senior Championship-winning team. He played his last club game in 1993 after making 25 championship appearances for Glen Rovers. At inter-county level, Fitzgibbon was part of the successful Cork minor team that won the All-Ireland Championship in 1985 before later winning an All-Ireland Championship with the under-21 team in 1988. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final. Only Blackrock have won more Cork senior hurling championships. Hurling Colours In the early days of the club, its colours were green, white and gold. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. 1984 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship
The 1984 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 54th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 19 April 1984 and ended on 16 September 1984. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final. On 16 September 1984, Limerick won the All-Ireland title following a 2-05 to 2-04 defeat of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final replay. This was their third All-Ireland title overall and their first title since 1958. 1991 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1991 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 103rd staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening fixtures took place on 16 December 1990. The championship began on 28 April 1991 and ended on 22 September 1991. Na Piarsaigh entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Blackrock in the second round. The final was played on 22 September 1991 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork between Midleton and Glen Rovers, in what was their first meeting in a final in 53 years. Midleton won the match by 1-17 to 1-08 to claim their seventh championship title overall and their first title since 1987. Ger Riordan was the championship's top scorer with 1-22. Midleton GAA
Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. History The concept of a Gaelic Athletic Association was first mooted in 1883 when a sub-committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood was formed with the ideal of creating a National Athletic body. Midleton man, P.N Fitzgerald was one of the committee members who eventually set up the Gaelic Athletic Association and thus Midleton's love affair and commitment to the G.A.A. was established. Sarsfields GAA is a hurling club is based in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of County Cork. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. They have won six County Championships, 1951, 1957, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. They have also won three Minor County Championships, 2007, 2008 and 2014. Seandun GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the city of Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, at adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. In addition, the division selects football and hurling teams from the adult teams playing at junior level or county intermediate level, and these then compete for the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship. Fermoy GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association based in the town of Fermoy, Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in competitions organized by the Cork GAA county board and the Avondhu GAA divisional board. The club plays both Gaelic football and hurling. Cork Under-21 Hurling Championship
Cork Premier Under-21 A Hurling Championship (currently known for sponsorship reasons as the ''Evening Echo'' Cork County Premier Under-21 A Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1973 for the top tier under-21 hurling teams in the county of Cork in Ireland. The series of games are played from the summer to the winter months with the county final currently being played at Páirc Uí Rinn. The prize for the winning team is the Dick Barrett Cup. The championship uses a double elimination format whereby each team is guaranteed at least two games. 22 clubs currently participate in the Premier Under-21 Championship. Tracton GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Tracton in Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club is a member of the Carrigdhoun division of Cork GAA. The club fields teams in both Gaelic football and hurling, though it has won most success in hurling. The club's pitch is in the village of Minane Bridge. History The club was founded in 1888, only 4 years after the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The pitch located at Ahane in Minane Bridge has been Tracton's permanent home since 1973. Brian Dillons GAA
Brian Dillons is one of the oldest Gaelic Athletic Association clubs in Cork city in Ireland. It is named after the Irish Fenian, Brian Dillon and its original clubhouse ("the Hole in the Wall") was less than 100 metres from Dillon's home (in the eponymous Dillons Cross).
