John Eaton (divine)
John Eaton (1575–1641) was an English Anglicanism#Anglican divines, divine and Antinomian. Along with Tobias Crisp, Eaton is considered one of the most important Antinomians of the 17th century. He is the author of ''The Honeycombe of Free Justificaiton''. Early life Eaton, born in Kent in or about 1575, was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, where he became the first recipient of the newly founded Blount exhibition in 1590. He proceeded B.A. 16 February 1595, and M.A. 7 July 1603. After serving several curacies, including that of St. Catherine, Coleman Street, London, he was presented about 1604 to the vicarage of Wickham Market, Suffolk, where he continued for fifteen years, 'being accounted by all the neighbouring ministers a grand Antinomian, if not one of the founders of the sect so called'. John Eaton (pirate)
John Eaton ( fl. 1682-1686) was an English buccaneer and pirate active off the coasts of Spanish Central and South America. He circumnavigated the world before returning to England. History Originally a merchant captain, Eaton commanded the 80-man, 250 ton, 20-gun ''Nicholas'' out of London when he sailed for Danish St. Thomas in 1683. After a visit to Cape Verde and a raiding spree along the Brazilian coast (including time spent alongside pirate George Bond), Eaton rounded the Strait of Magellan in early 1684. It was there he met the ''Cygnet'' under Charles Swan, who tried to conduct legitimate trade with the Spanish before turning to piracy. ''Nicholas'' soon met with the ''Bachelor's Delight'' under John Cook (who soon died and was replaced by Edward Davis) and separated from ''Cygnet''. John Craig Eaton
Sir John Craig Eaton (April 28, 1876 – March 30, 1922) was a Canadian businessman and a member of the prominent Eaton family. Life and career He was born in Toronto, Ontario, the youngest son of department store magnate Timothy Eaton and his wife, Margaret Wilson Beattie. He married Flora McCrea in 1901, and they had six children: Timothy Craig, John David, Edgar Allison, Gilbert McCrea, Florence Mary, and Evlyn (adopted). In 1905, weeks after laying the final stone at the new store at the corner of Portage and Donald in Winnipeg, John Craig (aka 'Jack') participated in several automobile races, successfully lowering the 5-mile record driving a Packard. John Craig Eaton II (born May 30, 1937, in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian philanthropist and former businessman who is a member of the prominent Eaton family. Family and career He is the great-grandson of Timothy Eaton, founder of the former Eaton's department store. He is married to his third wife, Sally Horsfall Eaton, a philanthropist and former registered nurse. He is the grandson of Sir John Craig Eaton, and the son of John David Eaton and Signy Hildur Stefansson Eaton. He is the brother of George Ross Eaton, Thor Edgar Eaton, and Fredrik Stefan Eaton. John David Eaton (4 October 1909 – 4 August 1973) was a Canadian businessman and a member of the prominent Eaton family (Toronto), Eaton family. He was the second son of Sir John Craig Eaton and Flora Eaton, Lady Eaton of Toronto, Ontario. He was married to Signy Stefansson Eaton, Signy Stefansson, and they had four sons. John Henry Eaton (June 18, 1790November 17, 1856) was an American politician and diplomat from Tennessee who served as U.S. Senator and as Secretary of War in the administration of Andrew Jackson. He was 28 years, 4 months, and 29 days old when he entered the Senate, making him the youngest U.S. Senator in history. Eaton was a lawyer in Tennessee who became part of a network that supported the political campaigns of Andrew Jackson. He also served in the militia as a major, and during the War of 1812 became an aide to Jackson; Eaton served with Jackson in all his wartime campaigns and battles, including the Battle of New Orleans. John Eaton (composer)
John Charles Eaton (March 30, 1935 – December 2, 2015) was an American composer. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Eaton attended Princeton University, where he graduated in 1957. He later lived in Rome (1957–68), returning to Princeton to earn a PhD in 1970. He subsequently held faculty appointments at Indiana University (1970–92) and the University of Chicago (1989–99). Eaton was a prominent composer of microtonal music, and worked with Paul Ketoff and Robert Moog during the 1960s in developing several types of synthesizer. Notably, he was involved in the development, use, and ultimately unsuccessful commercialization of the SynKet. John Livingston Eaton (born May 29, 1934, Washington, D.C.) is an American pianist, musicologist, humorist, educator and interpreter of jazz and American popular music. He is "considered one of the foremost interpreters of American music." Early life Eaton was born in Washington, D.C. John Eaton, Jr. (December 5, 1829 – February 9, 1906) was an American educator who served as the U.S. Commissioner of Education and a Union Army colonel during the American Civil War. On March 12, 1866, the United States Senate confirmed his January 13, 1866 nomination for appointment to the grade of brevet brigadier general of volunteers to rank from March 13, 1865. Jack Eaton (June 16, 1888 – December 4, 1968) was an American film producer and director. He produced 78 films between 1918 and 1953. He also directed 38 films between 1918 and 1953.
