John Earle (bishop)
John Earle (c. 160117 November 1665) was an English cleric, author and translator, who was chaplain to Charles II. Towards the end of his life he was Bishop of Worcester and then Salisbury. Life He was born at York, but the exact date is unknown. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, but moved to Merton, where he obtained a fellowship. In 1631 he was proctor and also chaplain to Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke, then chancellor of the university, which led in 1639 to incumbency of the rectory of Bishopston in Wiltshire. His fame spread, and in 1641 he was appointed chaplain and tutor to the future Charles II of England. In 1643 he was elected one of the Westminster Assembly, but his sympathies with Charles I of England and with the Anglican Communion were so strong that he declined to sit. John Earle (1749–1818), was an English Catholic priest and theologian. Life Earle was born in London on 31 December 1749. Educated at the English College, Douay in France, he became one of the officiating priests at the chapel of the Spanish ambassador in Dorset Street, Manchester Square, London. John Earle (professor)
John Earle (1824–1903) was a British Anglo-Saxon language scholar. He was twice Rawlinsonian Professor of Anglo-Saxon in the University of Oxford. Earle wrote more than a dozen books and was the author of ''Two Saxon Chronicles Parallel'' (1865), and ''Anglo-Saxon Literature'' (1884). Charles Plummer edited Earle's ''Two Saxon Chronicles Parallel'', producing a ''Revised Text'' with notes, appendices, and glossary in 1892. Milestones in his life Earle was born at Elston, Churchstow, S. Devon, on 29 January 1824, the oldest son of John Earle who was a farmer and landowner. Earle was educated at Oriel College, Oxford, where he obtained first-class honors in classics. Earle was elected a fellow in 1848 and in 1857 became rector of Swanswick, near Bath. John Earle (Australian Politician)
John Earle (15 November 1865 – 6 February 1932), commonly referred to as Jack Earle, was an Australian politician who served as Premier of Tasmania from 1914 to 1916 and also for one week in October 1909. He later served as a Senator for Tasmania from 1917 to 1923. Prior to entering politics, he worked as a miner and prospector. He began his career in the Australian Labor Party (ALP), helping to establish a local branch of the party, and was Tasmania's first ALP premier. However, he was expelled from the party during the 1916 split and joined the Nationalists, whom he represented in the Senate. John Milton Earle (April 13, 1794 – February 8, 1874) was an American businessman, abolitionist, and politician who founded the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in 1829. Biography John Milton Earle was born in Leicester, Massachusetts to Patience Earle (''née'' Buffum) and Pliny Earle, a member of the prominent Earle family. John Earle (born April 1, 1968) is a former American football player. Earle played for two seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Baltimore Stallions as a guard and center. He was drafted in the 11th round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Raised in Keyport, New Jersey, Earle graduated from Keyport High School in 1987. Jacob Rheuben Erlich (July 3, 1906 – July 18, 1952), professionally credited as Jack Earle, was an American silent film actor and sideshow performer. Earle claimed to be one of the world's tallest humans standing 8 ft 6.5 in (2.60m) however his real height was 7 ft 6 in (2.29m). John Earle Sullivan (born July 18, 1994), also known as Activist John, is an American political activist and self-identified photojournalist who participated in the 2021 United States Capitol attack. Before the January 6 attack, Sullivan organized and participated in protests relating to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, though a few other BLM organizers explicitly disavowed him, even expelling Sullivan from rallies and warning fellow activists to avoid associating with Sullivan. On January 6, Sullivan entered the Capitol and broke a window. He repeatedly shouted encouragement to fellow rioters.
