John E. Burch
John E. Burch (August 17, 1896 – July 28, 1969) was an American film assistant director and production manager during the latter part of the silent era through the 1950s. Early life Burch was born on August 17, 1896, in Chicago, Illinois to John Sebastian Burch and Mary Ann Pettit. Upon the United States' entry into World War One, Burch enlisted in the Navy, where he served aboard a submarine. At some point after the war, he moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, in an attempt to break into the film industry. Career Burch's first foray into the cinematic world was as an actor in 1925's ''White Fang'', adapted by Jane Murfin from the novel of the same name by Jack London. This would be his only on-screen appearance. The following year, as the assistant director on ''The Arizona Streak'' (1926), would see him begin a long career behind the camera as an assistant director, production manager and supervisor. Dennis O'Keefe
Dennis O'Keefe (born Edward Vanes Flanagan, Jr., March 29, 1908 – August 31, 1968) was an American actor and writer. Early years Born in Fort Madison, Iowa, O'Keefe was the son of Edward Flanagan and Charlotte Flanagan, Irish vaudevillians working in the United States. As a small child, he joined his parents' act and later wrote skits for the stage. He attended the University of Southern California but left midway through his sophomore year after his father died. Career O'Keefe continued his father's vaudeville act for several years after the father's death. He started in films as an extra in 1931 and appeared in numerous films under the name Bud Flanagan. After a small but impressive role in '' Saratoga'' (1937), Clark Gable recommended O'Keefe to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which signed him to a contract in 1937 and renamed him Dennis O'Keefe. ''Two in Revolt'' is a 1936 American drama film directed by Glenn Tryon. Released on April 3, 1936, by RKO Radio Pictures, the film stars John Arledge, Louise Latimer, and Moroni Olsen, and features Lightning the dog and Warrior the horse. Production The working title for the film was ''Thoroughbreds All''. Portions of the film were shot on location in the mountains near Sedona, Arizona. Dog trainer Earl Johnson wrapped his German Shepherd Lightning in four blankets at night, with just his nose exposed, when temperatures fell to 30 degrees below zero and water froze indoors.
