John Dwyer (musician)
John Dwyer is an American multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, visual artist and record label owner. He is best known as the founding member and primary songwriter of the garage rock band Osees, with whom he has released 23 studio albums. In addition to his work with Osees, Dwyer records solo material under the name "Damaged Bug". From 2020-2021, Dwyer released several improvisation-based records with a rotating collective of different artists, including "Bent Arcana", "Witch Egg", "Endless Garbage", "Moon Drenched" and "Gong Splat". He is also a former member of the garage rock acts Coachwhips, Pink and Brown and The Hospitals. Dwyer is currently based in Los Angeles, California, although for much of his career he was based in San Francisco, California. Dwyer is originally from Providence, Rhode Island, where he first began playing. He has been in and fronted several underground American bands since 1997. Sir John Patrick (Jack) Dwyer KCMG (24 June 1879 – 25 August 1966) was a native of Aberfeldy, Victoria who became Chief Justice and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Western Australia from 1945 to 1959. Early life Dwyer was born on 24 June 1879 at Aberfeldy, Victoria, the elder son of Thomas Dwyer (b.1842 in Tipperary, Ireland) and Elizabeth Donaldson (b. 1855 in Melbourne, Australia). In Aberfeldy, the children were orphaned when their mother died in September 1884 and their father died just over a year later, in December 1885. John E. "Jumbo" Dwyer was an American professional baseball player who played catcher and outfield in one game for the 1882 Cleveland Blues. Career Dwyer appeared in one major league game with the Cleveland Blues of the National League on May 16, 1882 against the Detroit Wolverines in Detroit. He started the game as Cleveland's catcher, before moving to left field in the fifth inning. Recounting the game, the ''Detroit Free Press'' levied harsh criticism of his play in the field, writing: " levelandtried an experiment behind the bat in the person of a big Chicagoan named Dwyer, whom they brought along as a catcher. He was not a success, and when they took the field in the fifth inning he was sent out into left field. John Dwyer (medicine)
John Michael Dwyer, (born 9 September 1939) is an Australian doctor, professor of medicine, and public health advocate. He was originally a Professor of Medicine and Paediatrics, then Head of the Department of Clinical Immunology at Yale University. Returning to Australia, he became Head of the Department of Medicine and the Clinical Dean at the University of New South Wales and Director of Medicine at Sydney's Prince of Wales Hospital, the University's major teaching hospital, for over twenty years. In retirement he is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine of the University. He founded the Australian Health Care Reform Alliance, and was the founding president of the Friends of Science in Medicine until 2019. John James Dwyer, VC (9 March 1890 – 17 January 1962) Commonly known as Jack or JJ, he was a politician and an Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly in 1931 representing the Labor Party, Dwyer served as Deputy Premier of Tasmania from August 1958 to May 1959 and remained in office until his death. When Dwyer was 27 years old he was a sergeant in the 4th Company, Australian Machine Gun Corps, Australian Imperial Force during the First World War.
