John Dunn (pipemaker)
John Dunn (ca. 1764–1820) was a noted pipemaker, or maker of bagpipes. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Dunn was a cabinet maker by profession, initially a junior partner with George Brummell. In the trade directories, he also appears in his own right as a turner (Whitehead 1790) and a plumb maker and turner (Mackenzie & Dent 1811). His address was Bell's Court, off Pilgrim Street. He was buried on 6 February 1820 in St. John's, Newcastle. His father may have been one John Dunn of Longhorsley; if so, he was born on 3 September 1764. He should not be confused with one M. Dunn, the maker of several surviving sets of Union pipes. Work with bagpipes Dunn was a maker of Northumbrian smallpipes and is regarded as the first to have added keys to the chanter, (c. 1800 AD), extending the range of the instrument from an octave to a twelfth. Jack Dunn (baseball)
John Joseph Dunn (October 6, 1872 – October 22, 1928) was an American pitcher and infielder in Major League Baseball at the turn of the 20th century who later became a minor league baseball club owner. Early life and playing career Dunn was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Bayonne, New Jersey. When he was nine, a boxcar ran over his left arm while playing at a local railway. He was told by doctors that his arm had to be either amputated or risk death. He declined an amputation, but his arm was left crippled from above the elbow and couldn't lift the arm above his neck. In 1896 Dunn played for Toronto in the Eastern League, and the following year he reached the major leagues as a pitcher for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. He bounced around the majors for seven years, having one good season with the Bridegrooms in 1899, with a 23–13 record. John Dunn (miller)
John Dunn Sr. (13 February 1802 – 13 October 1894) was a flour miller in the early days of the colony of South Australia; a parliamentarian, philanthropist and a prominent citizen of Mount Barker, South Australia. Career He was born in the parish of Bondleigh, Devon, the son of a small farmer. At the age of 10 he was working as a servant, then for seven years was apprenticed to a miller at North Tawton. He was then appointed manager of a steam mill in Bideford, Devon and in 1836 owned his own mill at Monkleigh, some 6 km to the south. John Dunn (American Football)
John Dunn (born August 7, 1983) is an American football coach and former player who is the tight ends coach for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He is the former offensive coordinator at the University of Connecticut. From 2011 to 2015, he was the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for former UConn head coach Randy Edsall at the University of Maryland. Dunn has also had stops with the Chicago Bears, LSU, and North Carolina. Jack Dunn (figure Skater)
John Edward Powell Dunn (28 March 1917 – 16 July 1938) was a British figure skater who competed in the 1930s. His best finish was a silver medal at the 1935 World Figure Skating Championships. Dunn was a close friend and lover of Sonja Henie, who was training in London towards the end of her competitive career. Following Henie's victory at the 1936 Winter Olympics, where Dunn placed sixth in the singles event, he accompanied the Henie family to the United States and became her professional skating partner in her touring ice show for the next two years. Their relationship ended when Henie became involved with Tyrone Power. Shortly afterward, in 1938, Dunn died from tularemia contracted from handling a rabbit while on a hunting trip in Texas. He died in Hollywood. Jack Dunn (born September 12, 1931) was a U.S. soccer inside right who was a four-time All-American, a member of the U.S. soccer team at the 1952 Summer Olympics. He was a four-time All-American and coached at the collegiate level. Player Dunn grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he played for the Lighthouse Boys Club and was three-time All City at Northeast Public High School. He then attended Temple University, playing on the men's soccer team from 1951 to 1954. He was a 1951 Honorable Mention (third team) All-American, 1953 Second Team All-American and 1952 and 1954 First Team All-American. He graduated in 1955. He was inducted into the Temple Hall of Fame in 1975. In 1952, he was a member of the U.S. soccer team at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Jonathan Paul Dunn (born December 12, 1981) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech. Dunn has also been a member of the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Early years Dunn attended Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He earned All-America honors from SuperPrep, Prep Star and Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report as a senior and was rated the No. 35 offensive line prospect in the nation by SuperPrep and the ninth-best player in Virginia. Jack Anthony Dunn (born 19 November 1994) is an English footballer who plays for Marine. He primarily plays as a striker but he can also play as a winger and attacking midfielder. Club career Early career Dunn was born and raised in Liverpool and has graduated through the ranks of the Liverpool F.C. Reserves and Academy having captained the Under-16's in 2010.
