John Du Cane
John Du Cane is an author and CEO of the companDragon Door Publications He has written various books, videos and DVDs about tai chi and qigong. John Du Cane was born in Africa in 1949. He studied at Cambridge University. He made thirty-four films between 1972 and 1975 during a brief period of activity in which he was associated with the London Film-Makers' Co-op. At the same time, he was an advocate of new work by British and international film artists, writing weekly previews and articles for Time Out and other magazines of the period. He now lives in the United States. John Du Cane claims he began his qigong and tai chi practice in 1975. Tai Chi
Tai chi (), short for Tai chi ch'üan ( zh, s=太极拳, t=太極拳, first=t, p=Tàijíquán, labels=no), sometimes called "shadowboxing", is an neijia, internal Chinese martial art practiced for defense training, health benefits and meditation. Tai chi has practitioners worldwide from Asia to the Americas. Early practitioners such as Yang Chengfu and Sun Lutang promoted the art for its health benefits beginning in the early 20th century. Its global following may be attributed to overall benefit to personal health. Many forms are practiced, both traditional and modern. London Film-Makers' Co-op
The London Film-makers' Co-op, or LFMC, was a British film-making workshop founded in 1966. It ceased to exist in 1999 when it merged with London Video Arts to form LUX. It grew out of film screenings at the Better Books bookstore, part of the 1960s counter-culture in London, before moving to the original Arts Lab on Drury Lane, then sharing offices with John 'Hoppy' Hopkins' BIT information service and then, with the breakaway group that formed the New Arts Lab, to the Camden-based Institute for Research in Art and Technology. With the end of IRAT's lease in 1971 the Co-op found a base in a long-term squat in a former dairy at 13a Prince of Wales Crescent in Kentish Town. Chen Xiaowang
Chen Xiaowang (born 20 October 1945) is an Australian-Chinese taijiquan teacher, who was born and raised in Chen Family Village (Chenjiagou, 陳家溝), Wen County, Henan province, and is the 19th generation lineage holder of Chen-style taijiquan. His grandfather was the taijiquan grandmaster Chen Fake. Pavel Tsatsouline ( be, Павел Цацулін, translit=Paveł Caculin) is the Chairman of StrongFirst, Inc., a Belarusian-born fitness instructor who has introduced SPETSNAZ training techniques from the former Soviet Union to US Navy SEALs, Marines and Army Special Forces, and shortly thereafter to the American public. Tsatsouline is particularly notable for popularizing the kettlebell in the modern era in the West, most notably through his books and through a series of instructional videos, delivered with his trademark humor, comically exploiting Russian stereotypes with a thick accent, a dungeon-esque setting, and frequent use of the word "comrade".
