John Drennan (cricketer)
John Drennan (born 13 November 1932) is a former first-class cricketer for South Australia. He toured New Zealand and South Africa with the Australian team but did not play Test cricket. Early career A tall fast-medium bowler, able to swing the ball either way,''The Oxford Companion to Australian Cricket'', Oxford, Melbourne, 1996, pp. 148-49. Drennan made his first-class debut in the 1953-54 season, taking 17 wickets for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield at an average of 32.88. When the New Zealanders played a match in Adelaide at the end of the season he took 5 for 83 in the New Zealanders' first innings of 459. He took 17 wickets at 24.23 in 1954-55, including 5 for 58 and 4 for 42 against Queensland. Most significantly, he took four cheap wickets, all of major batsmen, in South Australia's narrow loss to the touring MCC, and was selected to open the bowling for an Australian XI against MCC in Melbourne a week later. West Croydon, South Australia
West Croydon is an inner western suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. West Croydon has a population of 4,242 as of the ABS 2021 census, and is located 5 km west of the Central Business District of Adelaide. The population has changed greatly over the past 15 years as older residents move away, and younger residents move in. The Suburb is within the Federal seat of Adelaide and the City of Charles Sturt. Until the early 1920s the suburb was a farming area with infill occurring until the 1970s. Demographics The 2021 Census data by the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 4,242 people within the suburb of West Croydon. Ron Gaunt
Ronald Arthur Gaunt (26 February 1934 – 31 March 2012) was an Australian cricketer who played in three Test matches between 1958 and 1964. He was chiefly a fast bowler, who took 266 wickets in first-class cricket at an average of 26.85, playing first for Western Australia and then for Victoria. His opportunities to play for Australia were restricted by the presence of Alan Davidson, Garth McKenzie and Ian Meckiff in the team at that time, but he took the wicket of Dick Westcott in his first over in test cricket and in all he took 7 wickets for Australia at an average of 44.28. The 1957 FIBA World Championship for Women (Portuguese:Campeonato Mundial Feminino da Fiba de 1957) was the second FIBA World Championship for Women basketball championship held by FIBA. It was held in Brazil between 13 October and 26 October 1957. Twelve national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA, the sport's governing body. The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. In human anatomy, a hamstring () is any one of the three posterior thigh muscles in between the hip and the knee (from medial to lateral: semimembranosus, semitendinosus and biceps femoris). Eastern Province Cricket Team
Eastern Province cricket team was the former team that represented the Eastern Province in domestic first-class cricket in South Africa, alongside one-day matches. Eastern Province played first-class cricket from 1893–94 to 2004–05, when the team was merged with neighbouring team Border to form the entirely professional franchise the Warriors. From 2004–05 the former provincial teams, such as Eastern Province, were allocated two CSA Provincial Competitions that they could participate in: the CSA 3-Day Cup and the CSA One-Day Cup. Although given first-class status, these competitions were to be only semi-professional and no longer represented the top level of domestic cricket in South Africa.
