John Dale (cricketer, Born 1848)
John William Dale (21 June 1848 – 26 June 1895) was an English rower and cricketer who played for Cambridge University from 1868 to 1870, for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) from 1869 to 1882 and for Middlesex from 1874 to 1878. Dale was born at Lincoln, the son of Thurston Dale, a solicitor. He was educated at Tonbridge School and was in the Tonbridge School cricket team from 1863 to 1866. He was admitted at St John's College, Cambridge on 12 July 1866. He played cricket for Lincolnshire in 1867 and 1868. At Cambridge he played cricket for Cambridge University and was in the winning side in the Varsity match in 1868. In 1869, he rowed in the Cambridge eight stroked by J H D Goldie in the Boat Race. He also played for Cambridge again in a win in the Varsity cricket match. He rowed for Cambridge with Goldie again in the 1870 Boat Race when Cambridge won. John Ronald Dale (24 October 1930 – 19 November 2016) was an English school teacher and cricketer. He was born in Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire in 1930 and played primarily for Lincolnshire County Cricket Club. Cricketing career Dale made his debut for Lincolnshire County Cricket Club in the 1949 Minor Counties Championship against Derbyshire Second XI. He initially played for the county until 1952. John Dale (doctor)
John Dale (27 May 1885 – 27 September 1952) was an English-born Australian medical practitioner. He was born at Coleshill in Warwickshire to grocer James Francis Dale and Mary Grace. He was educated at Solihull Grammar School before studying medicine at the University of Birmingham. After a tour of Germany he worked as an assistant medical officer in Smethwick. He married Wynifred Mary Evans, a kindergarten teacher in the Montessori style, on 9 July 1914; they had four children. During World War I he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps as a major, and he was appointed deputy assistant director of medical services to the Second and Fourth Armies and the Army of the Rhine. He was recognised for his work combating typhoid fever with an OBE and a French decoration. John Gilbert Dale
John Gilbert Dale (1869 – 6 March 1926) was a British scientist who also became a prominent trade union and political activist. Born in Hanley, Staffordshire, Dales studied at Victoria College in Congleton. Developing a research interest in epilepsy, he also became a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a fellow of the Zoological Society of London. Dale became active in the Labour Party and stood for Kennington at the 1910 London County Council election, receiving 900 votes, and again in 1913, when he managed only 7.9% of the vote. He also stood for Parliament in St Pancras North at the 1918 United Kingdom general election, taking 26.6% of the votes cast. He stood again in the 1922 United Kingdom general election, when he improved to 33.6% and second place. John William Dale served as the pulpit minister at Glendale Road Church of Christ in Murray, Kentucky, one of the Church of Christ's largest congregations.
