John Crumplin
John Leslie Crumplin (born 26 May 1967) is an English former professional footballer who made more than 200 Football League appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He played as a right back or on the right wing. Career Crumplin was born in Bath, Somerset, in 1967, and spent his early childhood in Singapore, where his soldier father was stationed, before the family settled in Walberton, West Sussex. He was on the books of Southampton as a youngster, but his progress was interrupted by a broken leg, and he joined Bognor Regis Town. After playing for Bognor's first team at 16, he spent time on the books of Portsmouth, and returned to Bognor before signing for Brighton & Hove Albion in March 1987. making his debut in a 2–1 home defeat against Ipswich Town and supplied the cross from which Steve Gatting headed Brighton in front. Bath, Somerset
Bath () is a city in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary area in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. At the 2021 Census, the population was 101,557. Bath is in the valley of the River Avon, west of London and southeast of Bristol. The city became a World Heritage Site in 1987, and was later added to the transnational World Heritage Site known as the "Great Spa Towns of Europe" in 2021. Bath is also the largest city and settlement in Somerset. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. Player-manager
A player-coach (also playing coach, captain-coach, or player-manager) is a member of a sports team who simultaneously holds both playing and coaching duties. A player-coach may be a head coach or an assistant coach. They may make changes to the squad and also play on the team. Very few current major professional sports teams have head coaches who are also players, though it is common for senior players to take a role in managing more junior athletes. The National League (named Vanarama National League for sponsorship reasons) is an association football league in England consisting of three divisions, the National League, National League North, and National League South. It was called the "Alliance Premier League" from 1979 until 1986. Between 1986 and 2015, the league was known as the "Football Conference"." Steve Gatting
Stephen Paul Gatting (born 29 May 1959) is an English former professional footballer who played as a centre half or central midfielder. He notably played for Brighton & Hove Albion in the 1983 FA Cup Final. He was most recently a youth team coach at Arsenal. Career Gatting started his career at Arsenal, joining as an apprentice in July 1975. He turned professional in 1977, and quickly rose up the ranks, making his first-team debut as a substitute against Lokomotiv Leipzig in a UEFA Cup match on 13 September 1978; Arsenal won 3–0. He immediately held down a first-team place, making 30 appearances in the 1978-79 season. He was not part of the squad that won the 1979 FA Cup Final, where they beat Manchester United 3–2 with a late Alan Sunderland goal. Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town Football Club is a professional association football club based in Ipswich, Suffolk, England. They play in League One, the third tier of the English football league system. Walberton
Walberton is a village and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, England, north-west of Littlehampton, and south of the A27 road. The land rises from above sea level, a quarter of the height of Nore Hill, the nearest foothill of the South Downs, which is to the north of the parish. The parish includes the smaller village of Binsted to the east and the larger neighbourhood of Fontwell, less than two-thirds of a mile (1 km) to the north-west.
