John Crown
John Crown (born 1 March 1957) is an Irish consultant oncologist and former politician. He served in the Seanad from 2011 until 2016 but did not stand for re-election. Background and education Born in Brooklyn, New York to Irish emigrant parents, Crown's family returned to Ireland in 1967, and attended Synge Street CBS. Crown received his medical training in Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. A graduate of University College Dublin and the State University of New York, and holds degrees in medicine, science and business administration. His postdoctoral training took place at Guy's Hospital in London and St. James's Hospital in Dublin. He completed his training in oncology in New York at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center. Seanad Éireann
Seanad Éireann (, ; "Senate of Ireland") is the upper house of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (the lower house). 2011 Irish General Election
The 2011 Irish general election took place on Friday 25 February to elect 166 Teachtaí Dála across 43 constituencies to Dáil Éireann, the lower house of Ireland's parliament, the Oireachtas. The Dáil was dissolved and the general election called by President Mary McAleese on 1 February, at the request of Taoiseach Brian Cowen. James Reilly (born 16 August 1955) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician, businessman and medical doctor who served as a Senator from May 2016 to March 2020. He previously served as Acting Minister for Children and Youth Affairs from February to May 2016, Minister for Health from March 2011 to July 2014 and deputy leader of Fine Gael from 2010 to 2017. He was a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North constituency from 2007 to 2016.
