John Cedric Griffiths Teaching Award
The John Cedric Griffiths Teaching Award is presented alternate years to honor outstanding teaching with preference for teaching that involves application of mathematics or informatics to the Earth's nonrenewable natural resources or to sedimentary geology every years by the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG). International Association For Mathematical Geosciences
The International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG) is a nonprofit organization of geoscientists. It aims to promote international cooperation in the application and use of mathematics in geological research and technology. IAMG's activities are to organize meetings, issue of publications on the application of mathematics in the geological sciences, extend cooperation with other organizations professionally concerned with applications of mathematics and statistics to the biological sciences, earth sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, and planetary sciences. Margaret Armstrong (geostatistician)
Margaret Armstrong is an Australian geostatistician, mathematical geoscientist, and textbook author. She works as an associate professor in the School of Applied Mathematics at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Brazil, and as a research associate in the Centre for Industrial Economics of Mines ParisTech in France. Education Armstrong graduated from the University of Queensland in 1972, with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a diploma of education. After working as a mathematics teacher she returned to graduate study, first with a master's degree in mathematics from Queensland in 1977, and then with Georges Matheron at the École des Mines de Paris. She completed her doctorate there in 1980. Vera Pawlowsky-Glahn
Vera Pawlowsky-Glahn (born September 25, 1951) is a Spanish-German mathematician. From 2000 till 2018, she was a full-time professor at the University of Girona, Spain in the Department of Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics. Since 2018 she is emeritus professor at the same university. She was previously an associate professor at Technology University in Barcelona from 1986 to 2000. Her main areas of research interest include statistical analysis of compositional data, algebraic-geometric approach to statistical inference, and spatial cluster analysis. She was the president of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG) during 2008–2012. Ana María Fernández Militino is a Spanish spatial statistician. She is a professor of statistics and operations research at the Public University of Navarre. Despite the usual conventions for Spanish surnames, her English-language publications list her name as "Ana F. Militino". Education and career Militino studied mathematics at the University of Zaragoza from 1976 to 1981, and completed a doctorate in statistics in 1984 at the University of Extremadura.
