John Calvert Griffiths
John Calvert Griffiths CMG KC SC was the Attorney General of Hong Kong from 1979 to 1983. Early life Griffiths was born in Persia, now Iran, on 16 January 1931. He is the son of Oswald Hardy Griffiths and Christina Flora Griffiths (née Littlejohn). He was educated at St. Peter's School, York where he was a scholar. He then did his National Service from 1949 to 1950 and held the rank of Lieutenant. He then attended Emmanuel College, Cambridge where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1955 and a Master of Arts in 1960. Legal Practice in England Griffiths was called to the bar of the Middle Temple in 1956. He was appointed a Recorder in 1972, a position he held until 1990. He was made a Queen's Counsel in 1972. He was a member of the executive committee of the Inns of Court and the Bar from 1973 to 1977 and a member of the Senate between 1984 and 1986. John Williams Dixon Hobley
John William Dixon Hobley (11 June 1929 – 4 March 1993) was Attorney General of Bermuda in 1972 and Attorney General of Hong Kong from 1973 to 1979. Early life Hobley was born in Southport, Lancashire, England in 1929. He was the son of John Wilson Hobley and Ethel Anne Hobley. He was educated at the University School, Southport, Merseyside and the University of Liverpool where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. He was called to the bar of Gray's Inn in 1950 and practiced on the Northern Circuit until 1953. Career in Hong Kong and Bermuda Hobley moved to Hong Kong in 1953 and was appointed a Crown Counsel. In 1962 he was promoted to Senior Crown Counsel and in 1965 to Principal Crown Counsel. In 1972 he was appointed Attorney General of Bermuda. The Nancy Kissel murder case (officially called the ''Hong Kong Special Administrative Region v Nancy Ann Kissel'') was a highly publicised criminal trial held in the High Court of Hong Kong, where American expatriate Nancy Ann Kissel (née Keeshin) was convicted of the murder of her husband, 40-year-old investment banker Robert Peter Kissel, in their apartment on 2 November 2003. It was arguably the highest profile criminal case involving an expatriate in Hong Kong's history, and was closely covered in the media. Kissel was convicted of murder in 2005 and received a mandatory life sentence. The Court of Final Appeal overturned the conviction in February 2010, citing legal errors, and ordered a retrial. Miles Henry Jackson-Lipkin
Miles Henry Jackson-Lipkin, GCLJ, QC, SC, JP (, 24 May 1924 – 18 February 2012) was a British barrister-at-law based in Hong Kong, serving as a High Court judge between 1981 and 1987. In January 2007, he became the first former judge to be convicted and sent to prison in Hong Kong's history for social welfare fraud charges against him and his wife Lucille Fung. Jackson-Lipkin was admitted to the English bar in 1951. Since 1969, he had practised mainly in Hong Kong and had been involved in a number of famous court cases including the horse poisoning scandal of the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club and the corruption charges against former police superintendent Ernest Hunt. Chim Pui-chung (born 1946 in Chaozhou, Guangdong, China) was a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Legco), representing the Financial Services Functional Constituency. He is director of several companies.
