John Byrne (English Artist)
John Byrne (1786–1847) was an English painter and engraver. He came from a family of artists and he lived with his sister Elizabeth Byrne who also exhibited her landscapes. Life He was the only son of engraver William Byrne and followed his father's profession in the arts. After his father's death in 1805, he moved to 54 John Street, London. He had four sisters who were all talented artists including Elizabeth Byrne who lived with him. Elizabeth exhibited her own landscapes starting in 1838. The views were of foreign as well as British locations. She created six steel engravings for Thomas H. Shepherd's "Modern Athens". This was published in 1829. Her last known work to be exhibited was in 1849. He provided sets of engravings for Charles Wild's works on cathedrals. Byrne around 1818 was drawing-master at Eton College. John Edgar Byrne
John Edgar Byrne (1843–1906), also known as Bobby Byrne, was a Queensland bushman and Gulf country pioneer turned journalist and newspaper proprietor. He was founder and owner-editor of the '' Queensland Figaro'', later known as the '' Queensland Figaro and Punch''. 'Bobby' Byrne was born in Pennyfields, Poplar, East London, in April 1843, and was of Scottish descent. He had two brothers, Julius Byrne, a stockbroker of Gracechurch Street, London, and Dr Theodore E. D. Byrne, better known as the "Jumping Doctor of Gympie". The latter was originally a surgeon apprenticed to a parish doctor at Islington, but he later signed up as a surgeon superintendent in charge of the immigrant ship 'The Light Brigade', subsequently visiting Brisbane in 1863 and settling in Queensland in 1866. __NOTOC__ Jon Stephen Byrne (born 23 June 1983) is an Australian former Major League Baseball (MLB) umpire. He made his debut on 16 May 2014, becoming the first MLB professional umpire to have been born in Australia. Australian second baseman Joe Quinn had acted as a substitute umpire for two National League games; one each in 1894 and 1896. Byrne was an umpire primarily in Minor League Baseball (MiLB), working in the Midwest League (2006), Northwest League (2006), California League (2007), Eastern League (2008–2010), and International League (2011–2015). During the 2014 season, he umpired nine MLB games (three as the home plate umpire); he wore number 59 and did not issue any ejections. John Byrne (judge)
John Harris Byrne (born 16 October 1948) is a retired Australian jurist who previously served as Senior Judge Administrator of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Having been a judge of that court since 1989, he was one of the court's most experienced judges. He was also Chair of the National Judicial College of Australia, a body which provides programs and professional development resources to judicial officers in Australia. He is now a private Commercial Arbitrator. Pre-judicial career Byrne commenced his legal career as an articled clerk for Morris Fletcher and Cross before being admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1972. He was appointed King's Counsel ten years later in 1982. John Gabriel Byrne (15 July 1933 – 16 April 2016) was an Irish computer scientist and engineer. He founded the department of computer science in Trinity College Dublin, serving as its first head and professor, and has been referred to as "The Father of Computing in Ireland". Early life and education John Gabriel Byrne was born in Dublin on 25 July 1933. He was the only son of Doreen (née Lawlor) and Thomas Brendan Byrne. The family lived in Rathfarnham.
