John Butcher (born 1954) is an English tenor and soprano saxophone player.'' While studying physics at the University of Surrey, he met Chris Burn, and the two began playing free jazz together. In the 1980s he gave up the study of quarks to perform in a quartet with Burn. He belonged to a trio with Phil Durrant and John Russell and the band News from the Shed with Paul Lovens and Radu Malfatti. His debut album, ''Fonetiks'', was released in 1984. John Butcher (Australian Footballer)
John Butcher (born July 3, 1991) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the earliest of the three Port Adelaide players drafted in the first round of the 2009 AFL Draft (he went at pick 8). Butcher's younger brother, Danny, was drafted to Port Adelaide as part of the 2011 Rookie Draft at pick 21. Professional career Originally from Maffra, Victoria, Butcher is a versatile key position prospect with great agility and pace for his size. Butcher is an excellent contested mark and has been noted for his "clean hands." He was extremely impressive at the AFL Draft Camp, with his speed (2.99 sec over 20 m) and repeat sprints (24.88 sec) being in the top 28 percent of all players. John George Butcher, 1st Baron Danesfort, KC (15 November 1853 – 30 June 1935), known as Sir John Butcher, Bt, between 1918 and 1924, was a British barrister and Conservative Party politician. Background and education Butcher was the second son of the Most Reverend Samuel Butcher, Bishop of Meath, the grandson of Vice-Admiral Samuel Butcher (1770–1849), and the younger brother of Samuel Henry Butcher. His mother was Mary, daughter of John Leahy. He was educated at Marlborough College and Trinity College, Cambridge, and was called to the Bar, Lincoln's Inn, in 1878. Political career Butcher was Member of Parliament for York from 1892 to 1906 and from 1910 to 1923, in 1918 becoming the first Member of Parliament for York to be the sole parliamentary representative, as the constituency had previously had two MPs. John Butcher (born 27 May 1956, Newcastle upon Tyne) was a professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He played in The Football League for five clubs. Playing career Butcher began his career with Blackburn Rovers, with whom he turned professional in March 1976. He made more than 100 league appearances in six years at Ewood Park, the majority coming in seasons 1977–78 and 1978–79. He moved to Oxford United in July 1982, although he was loaned out to Halifax Town three months later and then had a temporary spell with Bury from December 1983. After not playing for Oxford during the 1983–84 season, Butcher was allowed to join Chester City on a free transfer in August 1984. He made his debut on the opening day of the new season against Scunthorpe United and went on to play 36 first-team games during the season. Jon Butcher (born May 5, 1955) is an American rock, blues songwriter, guitarist and freelance multimedia producer. Early life Jon A. Toombs, is the elder son of Joan Butts and John A Toombs Sr. In 1967, Jon's stepfather William Butcher moved the family from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Clear Air Force Base, Clear, Alaska. In 1969 the family moved back to Pennsylvania. Jon and his younger brother Brian completed secondary education at Conestoga High School. Jon studied Broadcast Journalism at Grahm Junior College in Boston, Massachusetts.
