John Bruce (decorator)
John Bruce is an interior designer best known for his many appearances on the Learning Channel home renovation TV series ''While You Were Out''. Bruce appeared in the first season and stayed with the show until the very end - he was the featured designer in the final episode. He was known for bringing an arty sensibility to people's homes - creating furniture based on an exquisite corpse design, for instance. While his designs were often much more avant garde than the homeowners would normally be comfortable with, at the end of the show they were almost always pleased with the results. Bruce has also worked behind the scenes on various films, include the award-winning indie ''I Shot Andy Warhol''. Bruce was given a "special thanks" credit in the film version of '' Hedwig and the Angry Inch''. While You Were Out
''While You Were Out'' is an American reality series that aired episodes on the cable channel TLC. The format of the show is similar to TLC's ''Trading Spaces'' (which, in turn, is based on the BBC TV series '' Changing Rooms''). ''While You Were Out'' adds a suspenseful gimmick by keeping the entire redecoration a secret from the homeowner. The series was revived in 2019, as a collaboration between TLC and new sister network HGTV. Premise of show The series began with the following premise: An individual sets up a friend or family member with a surprise room redecoration. A typical example of an episode would be a wife who wants to surprise her husband by having the living room redone. The person being set up is sent out of the house for two days on a phony premise, such as a vacation. Exquisite corpse (from the original French term ', literally exquisite cadaver), is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule (e.g. "The ''adjective'' ''noun'' ''adverb'' ''verb'' the ''adjective'' ''noun''." as in "The green duck sweetly sang the dreadful dirge.") or by being allowed to see only the end of what the previous person contributed. ''I Shot Andy Warhol'' is a 1996 biographical drama film about the life of Valerie Solanas and her relationship with the artist Andy Warhol. The film marked the feature film directorial debut of Canadian director Mary Harron. Hedwig And The Angry Inch (film)
''Hedwig and the Angry Inch'' is a 2001 American musical comedy-drama film written for the screen and directed by John Cameron Mitchell. John Cameron Mitchell (born April 21, 1963) is a two-time Tony Award winning American actor, playwright, screenwriter, singer, songwriter, producer and director.
