John Brown (center)
John Edward "The Body" Brown (April 9, 1922 – June 1, 2009) was an American football player who played at the center and linebacker positions. He played college football for North Carolina Central and professional football for the Los Angeles Dons, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and British Columbia Lions. He was the first African-American player to sign with the Dons and one of the first three players from a historically-black university to play professional football. Early years Brown was born in 1922 in Belen, Mississippi. He attended and played football at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana. College football He played college football at North Carolina Central, a historically black university, from 1940 to 1942 and 1947. Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost Lineman (American football), lineman of the offensive line on a football team's Offense (sports), offense. The center is also the player who passes (or "Snap (gridiron football), snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each Play from scrimmage, play. Canadian Football League
The Canadian Football League (CFL; french: Ligue canadienne de football—LCF) is a professional sports league in Canada. The CFL is the highest level of competition in Canadian football. The league consists of nine teams, each located in a city in Canada. They are divided into two divisions: four teams in the East Division and five teams in the West Division. As of 2022, it features a 21-week regular season in which each team plays 18 games with three bye weeks. This season traditionally runs from mid-June to early November. Elmore Harris (b. February 23, 1855 Beamsville, Ontario – d. December 19, 1911 Delhi, India) was a Canadian Baptist pastor. He was the founder of the Walmer Road Baptist Church and one of the founders of Toronto Bible Training School in 1894 which soon changed its name to Toronto Bible College (now Tyndale University).
