John Blake Powell
John Blake Powell, PC (Ire), KC (1870 – 13 September 1923) was an Irish solicitor, barrister and judge. He was the eldest son of John Powell of Ballytivan House, Sligo. In 1889, he married Catherine O'Sullivan Morris. Originally qualifying as a solicitor, he was called to the Bar in 1894. From 1904 to 1914 he was Senior Crown Prosecutor for County Leitrim and from 1914 to 1918 held the same position in County Sligo. He took silk in 1905 and was elected a bencher in 1909. He was a delegate to the Irish Convention in 1917–1918. In 1918 he briefly served as Solicitor-General for Ireland. In 1918 he was appointed a judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court of Justice in Ireland, remaining in this post in the High Court of the Irish Free State until his death. Sir Denis Henry, 1st Baronet
Sir Denis Stanislaus Henry, 1st Baronet, (7 March 1864 – 1 October 1925), was an Irish lawyer and politician who became the first Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland. Henry was born in Cahore, Draperstown, County Londonderry, the son of a prosperous Roman Catholic businessman. He was educated at Marist College, Dundalk, Mount St Mary's College, Spinkhill, North East Derbyshire (a Jesuit foundation) and Queen's University of Belfast, Queen's College, Belfast, where he won every law scholarship available to a student in addition to many other prizes and exhibitions. In 1885, he was called to the Bar of Ireland. Arthur Warren Samuels (19 May 1852 – 11 May 1925) was an Irish Unionist Alliance Member of Parliament (MP) in the United Kingdom Parliament and subsequently a Judge. The Irish Unionists were the Irish wing of the Conservative Party. Biography He was born in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, second son of Arthur Samuels, a solicitor, and Katherine Daly, daughter of Owen Daly of Mornington, County Meath. He attended Trinity College Dublin, before being called to the Irish Bar in 1877. He became a Queen's Counsel (QC) in 1894 and was called to the English bar in 1896. Samuels was Solicitor-General for Ireland 1917–1918 and Attorney-General for Ireland in 1918–1919. He was also made a member of the Privy Council of Ireland in 1918.
