John Berry (film Director)
John Berry (September 6, 1917 – November 29, 1999) was an American film director, who went into exile in France when his career was interrupted by the Hollywood blacklist. Early life Berry was born Jak Szold in The Bronx, New York, the son of a Polish-Jewish father and a Romanian mother. He was a child performer in vaudeville, first going on stage at the age of four. In his teens he briefly worked as a boxer under the name Jackie Sold. Berry's father was a restaurateur who at one point owned 28 restaurants around New York City but he went out of business during the Great Depression and Berry sought to support himself by working as a comedian and master of ceremonies in the Catskill resorts as well as working as an actor. Mercury Theatre and Hollywood Berry's first big break came when he was hired by the Mercury Theatre for its debut production, titled ''Caesar'' (1937). John Berry (rugby)
John Berry (25 September 1866 – 10 May 1930), also known by the nickname of 'Buff', was an English rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1880s and 1890s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for England, and at club level for Kendal Hornets and Tyldesley, as a fly-half, i.e. number 10, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Lancashire, and at club level for Tyldesley, as a , i.e. number 6. Prior to Tuesday 27 August 1895, Tyldesley was a rugby union club. Background John Berry was born in Kendal, Westmorland, and he died aged 63 in Manchester, Lancashire, England. John Stevens Berry Sr. is an American attorney and the founder of Berry Law Firm in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is notable for a number of high-profile cases including the defense of Green Berets in Vietnam. Early life and military career John Stevens Berry Sr. is a native of Onawa, Iowa. Berry graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico in 1956. John Berry, CBE DL FRSE (5 August 1907 – 19 February 2002) was a Scottish zoologist and ecologist. He was the first Director of the Nature Conservancy (UK) for Scotland (1949 to 1967). He was the youngest and longest served Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh during the 20th century. Life He was born on 5 August 1907, the son of William Berry of Tayfield, an advocate in Edinburgh. His father instilled in him a love of nature conservation and especially bird protection. His mother died in his early youth and he was largely raised by aunts. He had brittle bones and dyslexia. John Cutting Berry
John Cutting Berry (January 16, 1847 – February 9, 1936) was an American physician and missionary. He was dispatched by the American Board to Japan, where he practiced medicine in places including Kobe, Kyoto, and Okayama. In 1911 he was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, 3rd class. Life Berry was born in the state of Maine in 1847. His father, a captain, died when he was four years old, and he was sent taken in by one of father's friends. He worked for his living from the age of 11. At the age of 17 he was baptized as a Christian. When he was 20, a ship he was riding in was caught in a storm, but he survived. Feeling that God had saved him for a reason, he resolved to dedicate the remainder of his life to God.
