John Of Beaumont
John of Beaumont (1288 – 11 March 1356) was a younger brother of count William III of Holland. He was the lord of Beaumont and count of Soissons by virtue of his marriage. Life He was born in 1288 as John of Hainault, 4th son of John II, Count of Holland and Philippa of Luxembourg. He was the brother of William I of Hainault (III of Holland) and Alice of Hainault, among others. When his uncle John I, Count of Holland died in 1299, he left behind no descendants. As a result, his father inherited the county of Holland and Zeeland as John II, Count of Holland through his mother Adelaide of Holland. From then on Hainault and Holland were in a personal union. John of Hainault bought the ''heerlijkheid'' (comparably to the English Barony) of Beaumont, located in the southern Netherlands, for his son. John Beaumont (died 1701)
John Beaumont (c. 16363 July 1701) was an English soldier at the time of the Glorious Revolution and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1685 and 1695. Beaumont was born at Burton, Lincolnshire, the son of Sapcote Beaumont, 2nd Viscount Beaumont of Swords and his wife Bridget Monson. He was educated at school at Market Bosworth and was admitted at Christ's College, Cambridge aged 17 on 3 November 1653. He attended King Charles II in exile and was commissioned a captain in Our Holland Regiment, becoming lieutenant-colonel by 1685. In 1685, Beaumont was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Nottingham and held the seat until 1689. In 1688, Beaumont's regiment was marched to Portsmouth under the Duke of Berwick. Beaumont was one of the officers involved in Portsmouth Captains affair when they refused to accept Irish recruits into the regiment against King James instructions for all regiments to accept a quota of Irish troopers. John Thomas Barber Beaumont (1774–1841) was a British army officer, painter, author, and philanthropist. He was successful in the insurance business, and projected a settlement in South America. Life Born John Thomas Barber on 21 December 1774 in the parish of St Marylebone, London, he assumed in 1812, for unknown reasons, the additional name of Beaumont (which was retained by his descendants) and was often known as "Barber Beaumont". Artist An accomplished painter, Barber Beaumont focused on history painting and miniature painting. Seigneur John Michael Beaumont (20 December 1927 – 3 July 2016) was the twenty-second Seigneur of Sark in the Channel Islands. He worked as a civil engineer before succeeding his paternal grandmother, Sibyl Hathaway, the 21st Dame of Sark, in 1974. John Beaumont (cricketer)
John Beaumont (16 September 1855 – 1 May 1920) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Surrey and Yorkshire between 1877 and 1890. Born in Armitage Bridge, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, Beaumont was a right arm fast bowler, who took 467 wickets at an average of 16.71, with a best of 8 for 40 against Yorkshire for his adopted Surrey. He took 46 wickets against the Tykes at 12.47 apiece. He was less accomplished as a right-handed tail end batsman, scoring 881 runs at 8.31, with a highest score of 60 against Gloucestershire. He played only four matches for his native county before moving to Surrey, for whom he played ninety one times. He also appeared for G.F. Vernon's XI, L Hall's XI and the South of England. He umpired several matches, including four of the Gentlemen v Players games. Sir John Beaumont, 1st Baronet (c.1582/3 – April 1627) of Grace Dieu in the parish of Belton in Leicestershire, England, was a poet best known for his work ''Bosworth Field'' (a poem about the Battle of Bosworth Field). Origins He was born at Grace Dieu, near Thringstone in Leicestershire, the second son of the judge Sir Francis Beaumont (d.1598) by his wife Anne Pierrepont. His younger brother was the dramatist Francis Beaumont. Career John matriculated at Broadgates Hall (later Pembroke College) in the University of Oxford on 4 February 1596/1597, entered as a gentleman commoner.
