John Bates (American Football)
John Bates (born November 6, 1997) is an American football tight end for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Boise State and was drafted by Washington in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Career Bates played college football at Boise State and was drafted by the Washington Football Team in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract on May 13, 2021. Due to injuries to Logan Thomas and Ricky Seals-Jones, Bates had his first career start in the Week 11 win over the Carolina Panthers. In a December 26 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Bates scored his first NFL touchdown on a pass from Kyle Allen, which he fumbled but later recovered in the endzone. Logan Thomas
Logan Lamont Thomas Sr. (born July 1, 1991) is an American football tight end for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He was the starting quarterback at Virginia Tech in the early 2010s, where he finished as the school's all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Thomas spent time as a reserve quarterback for the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants before switching to tight end, a position he last played in high school, with the Detroit Lions in 2016. Taylor Heinicke ( ; born March 15, 1993) is an American football quarterback for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Old Dominion and signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Heinicke has also been a member of the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Carolina Panthers, as well as the St. Louis BattleHawks in the XFL. With Washington in 2020, Heinicke filled in for an injured Alex Smith in a playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kyle Allen (born March 8, 1996) is an American football quarterback for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, he played high school football at Desert Mountain and was among the top football players of his class. He played college football at Texas A&M before transferring to Houston in 2016. Allen signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent following graduation in 2018.
