John B. Kirkham
John B. Kirkham (26 February 1869 – 30 November 1930) (one source states Kirkham was born on 26 February 1868), known as Johnny Kirkham, was an English footballer who played in The Football League for Accrington. He signed in 1883 for his local club Hapton F.C. In 1884 Kirkham signed for Oswaldtwistle Rovers and played for them for three seasons, 1884–87. In the 1885–86 season Oswaldtwistle Rovers reached the 2nd round of the FA Cup for the only time. It is not recorded if Kirkham played in the FA Cup games. In 1887 Kirkham signed for Padiham. Padiham was formed in 1878 and were well supported. But being a small town the club could not compete when Football became professional (See Wikipedia article on Padiham F.C.). Clayton-le-Moors
Clayton-le-Moors is an industrial town in the borough of Hyndburn in the county of Lancashire, England. located two miles north of Accrington. The town has a population of 8,522 according to the 2011 census. To the west lies Rishton, to the north Great Harwood, and two miles to the south, Accrington. Clayton-le-Moors is situated on the A680 road alongside the M65 motorway. History It is thought that the town developed with the fusion of the two hamlets of Oakenshaw (bottom end) and Enfield (top end) which began during the construction of the Leeds Liverpool Canal, which pre-dated the railways. The merger continued with the development of the cotton textile industry, particularly that of weaving and cloth finishing. The Town Ground was a football ground in Nottingham in England. It was the home ground of Nottingham Forest, and the first ground to host a football match using crossbars and goal nets. History In July 1890 Nottingham Forest bought "Councilllor Woodward's Field", a site at the end of Arkwright Street, in order to build a new ground. 1890–91 Football League
The 1890– 91 Football League was the third Football league season. After dominating and being crowned champions for the first two football league seasons Preston North End slipped to second and Everton won the league with a two-point gap. Meanwhile, there had been changes in the league since the last football league season, Stoke had not been re-elected to the football league, so joined the rival Football Alliance. They were replaced with Sunderland, who were nicknamed "the team of all talents" at the time.
