John B. Clymer
John B. Clymer (March 6, 1887 – May 24, 1937) was a Hollywood film screenwriter. His career spans the silent film era to the early talking films. His first film ''The Supreme Impulse'' was produced in 1915. His last film, ''The Gentleman Misbehaves'', was released posthumously in 1946. Biography He was born on March 6, 1887, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died in Hollywood, California, on May 24, 1937, from a heart attack. Plot As described in a film magazine, when the will of Jonathan Rhodes (Pearce) was read, a third of the estate was left to a woman unknown to his family. This revelation had no effect on Mrs. Rhodes (Langdon), whose iron rule in the home had been his means of seeking other company. The Lone Eagle is a 1927 American silent melodrama directed by Emory Johnson, based on the story by Emilie Johnson, and starring Raymond Keane, Barbara Kent and Nigel Barrie. It was released by Universal Pictures on September 18, 1927. Plot During World War I, American pilot Lieutenant William (Billy) Holmes (Raymond Keane) accepts an assignment with the Royal Flying Corps. ''The Hope Diamond Mystery'' is a 1921 American 15-chapter action film serial directed by Stuart Paton and featuring Grace Darmond, George Chesebro, May Yohe, and Boris Karloff. The screenplay was written by Charles Goddard and John B. Clymer, based on an autobiographical story by May Yohe (who also co-stars as herself in the serial). Chapter One premiered on February 19, 1921, and the final chapter was shown on May 29, 1921. The film survives with a copy at the Library of Congress, which includes all of the hand-tinted color sequences as well. Plot The curse of the legendary blue Hope Diamond on all its owners is dramatized, beginning with the gem's discovery in 17th Century India. Lord Francis Hale inherits the Hope Diamond and marries showgirl May Yohe. He later gambles away the family fortune, and May deserts him.
