John Austrheim
John Austrheim (10 October 1912 – 13 April 1995) was a Norwegian politician, farmer for the Centre Party. Born in Gloppen, Sogn og Fjordane, Austrheim had no more than a primary education, and worked as a farmer when he was elected mayor of his municipality Gloppen in 1955. He had previously been a municipality council member from 1945 to 1951, and served as mayor until 1962. In 1967 he was elected leader of the Centre Party, a position he took over after Per Borten, who was serving as Prime Minister at the time. Austrheim held this post until 1973. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Østfold in 1961, and was re-elected on three occasions. He had previously served in the position of deputy representative during the term 1958–1961. The Minister of Transport ( no, Samferdelsministeren) is a Councillor of State and Chief of the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. The post has been held by Jon-Ivar Nygård of the Labour Party since 2021. Leiv Erdal
Leiv Erdal (11 August 1915 – 20 November 2009) was a Norwegian military officer, bailiff and politician for the Centre Party. He was born in Naustdal as a son of farmer, bailiff and mayor Bendik Henriksen Erdal (1879–1937) and housewife Oleanna Mathiasdatter Naustdal (1884–1966). He finished primary school in 1929 and worked from 1930 to 1933 with farming and animals. From 1933 to 1934 he attended Fana Folk High School, and he then took agricultural school in Førde for two years and officer training in Bergen to 1937. He became a Sergeant in 1938 and Second Lieutenant ( Fenrik) in 1939. During World War II he fought for Norway in Valdres and Fjordane during the Norwegian Campaign in 1940. He was decorated with the Defence Medal 1940–1945. He was the bailiff of Fjaler from 1940 to 1941 and acting bailiff of Naustdal from 1941 to 1942, but was then fired by the Nazi authorities. Ambjørg Sælthun
Ambjørg Sælthun, née Ødelien (27 July 1922 – 2 January 2012) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. She was born in Ål. She was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Sogn og Fjordane in 1973, and was re-elected on two occasions. She had previously served as a deputy representative during the term 1969–1973. From 1972 to 1973 she moved up as a regular representative, filling in for John Austrheim who was appointed to the cabinet Korvald. On the local level he was a member of Lærdal municipal council from 1971 to 1975. She was a member of the central party board from 1976 to 1982, and chaired the Centre Party Women's Association (''Senterkvinnene'') during the same period. Outside politics she was a farmer, having also worked briefly as a nurse. She was active in the Norwegian Agrarian Association, in Christian organizations, and was a member of the board of the publishing house Det Norske Samlaget from 1979 to 1983.
