Jack Anthony (footballer)
John "Jack" Anthony (born 19 January 1988) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the Collingwood Football Club from 2008 to 2010 and the Fremantle Football Club from 2011 to 2012. Early life Anthony originally played as a forward during his junior days with Diamond Creek in northern Melbourne. He also played for the Northern Knights in the TAC Cup where he was scouted by Collingwood and selected with the 37th selection of the 2005 AFL draft. AFL career 2007 Anthony suffered a serious neck injury during the 2007 pre-season but made a successful return to football in 2008. 2008 Anthony made his AFL debut in round three against Richmond Football Club. He kicked two goals straight, but was dropped back to the VFL the following week. He returned to the Collingwood side in Round 13, keeping his spot in the side for the rest of the season. John Anthony (provost)
Sir John Anthony JP (1862–1935) was a late 19th and early 20th century Scottish businessman who served as Provost of Govan from 1903 to 1906. He was actively involved in the Temperance movement. He was Chairman of the Scottish Liberal Association. Life He was born in Kirkford near Stewarton in Ayrshire on 9 February 1862 to Andrew Anthony, a shoemaker, and his wife Agnes McCrae. He was educated at Stewarton Public School. In 1875 he began working as a message boy (delivering telegraphs) based at Stewarton Railway Station. Around 1880 he transferred to Pollokshaws and around 1882 moved to Govan, still working for the railway, but as a cashier. In 1889 he became a partner in Cockburn Brothers of Govan, iron and steel product manufacturers at St James Ironworks on Helen Street in Govan. John Anthony (1585 – 28 April 1655) was an English physician. Anthony was the son of Francis Anthony. He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge, graduating as M.B. in 1613, M.D. in 1619. He was admitted as a licentiate of the College of Physicians, London, in 1625. He gained a handsome income from the sale of his father's "Aurum Potabile", or "Drinkable Gold" and succeeded to the more reputable part of his father's practice. John Anthony served in the English Civil War, on the parliamentary side, as surgeon to a Colonel Sandys. He was the author of a devotional work, ''The Comfort of the Soul, laid down by way of Meditation.'' The same work in the same impression was afterwards issued with a new title-page as ''Lucas Redivivus, or the Gospel Physician.'' John Gould Anthony (17 May 1804, in Providence, Rhode Island – 16 October 1877, in Cambridge, Massachusetts) was an American naturalist who became an expert on malacology, the study of mollusks. Anthony was in charge of the conchology (now malacology) department of Harvard's Museum of Comparative Zoology for over a decade. John Anthony (born 3 December 1944) is an English music producer. He has worked with Van der Graaf Generator, Genesis, Queen, Roxy Music and Peter Hammill. Career Anthony was born in North Shields, then in Northumberland now in North Tyneside. He started out in 1966 as a DJ in Windsor, Berkshire, where two years later he sang briefly with two bands: the Soul Agents, and Hogsnort Rupert and the Good Good Band.
