John Alkin
John Alkin (born 17 January 1947) is an English actor turned spiritual healer. He was born in Rugby, Warwickshire, under the name John Kenneth Foinquinos. Alkin is best remembered for two roles: DS Tom Daniels in '' The Sweeney'' and barrister Barry Deeley in the long running daytime TV drama '' Crown Court''. He played the role of Robert Martin in the 1972 BBC TV production of Jane Austen's '' Emma''. He also appeared extensively as a guest star in numerous TV shows such as ''Z-Cars'', ''Timeslip'', ''Minder'' and '' Doctor Who''. Rugby is a market town in eastern Warwickshire, England, close to the River Avon. In the 2021 census its population was 78,125, making it the second-largest town in Warwickshire. It is the main settlement within the larger Borough of Rugby which has a population of 114,400 (2021). ''Secret Army'' is a British television drama made by the BBC and the Belgian national broadcaster BRT (now VRT) created by Gerard Glaister. It tells the story of a fictional Belgian resistance movement in German-occupied Belgium during the Second World War dedicated to returning Allied airmen, usually having been shot down by the Luftwaffe, to Great Britain. ''The Lady Vanishes'' is a 1979 British comedy mystery film directed by Anthony Page. Its screenplay by George Axelrod was based on the screenplay of 1938's ''The Lady Vanishes'' by Sidney Gilliat and Frank Launder, which in turn was based on the 1936 novel ''The Wheel Spins'' by Ethel Lina White. It stars Elliott Gould as Robert, Cybill Shepherd as Amanda (Iris), Angela Lansbury as Miss Froy, Herbert Lom, and Arthur Lowe and Ian Carmichael as Charters and Caldicott. The film is a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1938 film of the same name. The film follows two Americans travelling by train across 1939 Germany. Kenny Everett
Kenny Everett (born Maurice James Christopher Cole; 25 December 1944 – 4 April 1995) was an English comedian, radio disc jockey and television presenter. After spells on pirate radio and Radio Luxembourg in the mid-1960s, he was one of the first DJs to join BBC Radio's newly created BBC Radio 1 in 1967. It was here he developed his trademark voices and surreal characters which he later adapted for television. Everett was dismissed from the BBC in 1970 after making remarks about a government minister's wife. He was later re-instated at the BBC, working both on local and national radio, but, in the Autumn of 1973, when commercial radio became licenced in the UK, he joined Capital Radio. Starting in the late 1970s, he transitioned to television where he made numerous comedy series on ITV and BBC, often appearing with Cleo Rocos, whose glamorous and curvaceous figure was often used to comic effect. ''Minder'' is a British comedy-drama series about the London criminal underworld. Initially produced by Verity Lambert, it was made by Euston Films, a subsidiary of Thames Television, and shown on ITV for ten series between 1979 and 1994.
