John Addison Porter Prize
The John Addison Porter Prize is a literary award given annually by Yale University to the best work of scholarship in any field "where it is possible, through original effort, to gather and relate facts or principles, or both, and to present the results in such a literary form as to make the product of general human interest." This award is among the highest the university confers. The prize was established in 1872 in honor of Professor John Addison Porter John Addison Porter (March 15, 1822 – August 25, 1866) was an American professor of chemistry and physician. James Hayden Tufts
James Hayden Tufts (1862–1942), an influential American philosopher, was a professor of the then newly founded Chicago University. Tufts was also a member of the Board of Arbitration, and the chairman of a committee of the social agencies of Chicago. The work ''Ethics'' in 1908 (with a second edition appearing in 1932) was a collaboration of Tufts and John Dewey. Tufts believed in a conception of mutual influences which he saw as opposed in both Marxism and idealism. Tufts was an 1884 graduate of Amherst College; received a B.D. from Yale University in 1889 (where he won the John Addison Porter Prize), an M.A. from Amherst College in 1890, and his Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg under Alois Riehl in 1892. Charles Franklin
Charles Bayly Franklin (13 October 1880 – 19 October 1932) was an engineer and a motorcycle racer. He designed motorcycles for the Indian Company, including the original Indian Scout of 1920, the original Indian Chief of 1922, and the Indian 101 Scout of 1928. Prior to this, he had been part of the Indian motorcycle team that won first, second, and third place in the 1911 Isle of Man TT, finishing in second place. Franklin was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2016. Son Goku was a German rock band who played a mix of hardcore punk, alternative, reggae, and electronic sounds. The band was named after the Son Goku character in the ''Dragon Ball'' series. Son Goku's first and only album, ''Crashkurs'' (Crash course), was released in 2002 and reached a peak position of 15 on the Media Control Charts. William Frederick Foster
William Frederick Foster (29 August 1865 – 21 July 1936) was an Australian building contractor, businessman, politician and member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Early life William Foster was born in Brisbane to builder William Foster and Rebecca, ''née'' Harwood, who were English migrants. The family initially moved to Melbourne, where William was educated at a public school. They then relocated to Sydney while William was a teenager. Building career Foster started life as a carpenter in 1882, and he held various jobs with building-related companies, eventually becoming a partner in a successful construction business with his father and brother in 1883. Clive Hart Day (February 11, 1871 – July 27, 1951) was an American college professor and the author of ''History of Commerce''.
