John Adams High School (often referred to simply as Adams) is a public high school in South Bend, Indiana. Location The campus is located between the historic River Park and Sunnymede neighborhoods in South Bend, Indiana. The neighborhood is on the east side of town, and Adams is referred to as "The Pride of the East Side". The school sits on around across from Indiana University South Bend. School Field, the home stadium for Adams football, is on the other side of the Sunnymede neighborhood, next to Jefferson Intermediate School. History John Adams High School opened on September 30, 1940 as part of a program sponsored by the Federal Works Agency and the Public Works Administration. John Adams College and Career Academy is a public high school located on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. History John Adams High School opened at East 116th Street and Corlett Avenue in 1923. It was closed in 1995, along with West Technical, and Aviation High Schools to help cut the city's budget. The school was rebuilt and opened in 2006. Clubs and activities The school's Latin Club functions as a local chapter of both the Ohio Junior Classical League (OJCL) and National Junior Classical League (NJCL). Planning for the school began in 1927 and classes commenced in September 1930. At around the same time the city built several other high schools from the same plans, including Samuel J. Tilden High School, Far Rockaway High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, Bayside High School, and Grover Cleveland High School. As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,622 students and 169.7 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.5:1. Located at 5700 N.E. 39th Avenue (now Cesar Chavez Blvd.), Portland, Oregon, the school opened in 1969. Its curriculum, based on ES-70 and further developed by students and faculty at Harvard Graduate School of Education, had a unique and sometimes controversial approach to secondary education. Approach to education When Adams opened, there were many ways that it differed from a normal high school. The school was organized into four different sub-schools, or "houses", each with a multiple-discipline and general education focus, including a blend of students from all grades.
